Chen Kun and Zhou Xun’s New Film – The Yin Yang Master, Hits the Big Screens

The Yin Yang Master is a 2021 film adaptation of the acclaimed role-play mobile game Onmyoji: Master of Yin and Yang. It premieres in cinemas today and should not be mistaken for Deng Lun and Mark Chao’s version that aired last year. That one was a first part adaptation of the novel series titled Onmyoji by Yumemakura Baku. The stories have similarities, but this new movie is from a different director, production company, and cast.

Synopsis – The world is on the verge of a devastating war with monsters trying to retrieve the Scaling Stone. Yin Yang Master Qing Ming’s life is in danger, which leads him on a journey to different worlds in preparation for the upcoming assaults. During his voyage, Qing Ming finds that the key to stopping all the calamities is embracing his human and monster hybrid identity (source – Netflix).

Now here’s a more detailed summary provided on – Captain of the City Guard, Yuan Boya, is stripped of his rank after failing to guard an imperial tribute. Unwilling to let things lie, he searches for the thieves that stole the tribute, only to end up entering a mystical world of demons. Along the way, he becomes mixed up in a feud between the Yin Yang Master Qing Ming, humans and the demon worlds. Yuan Boya and Qing Ming’s relationship grows from mutual distaste to grudging respect, and eventually, they establish an unbreakable bond of master and familiar. The two work together to solve an old mystery and prove Qing Ming’s innocence while also unravelling a conspiracy to bring the Demon King back from the dead. (I’m not too confident of this summary’s accuracy since anyone can edit the site.)

Main cast list for The Yin Yang Master:

We have one of my favourite Chinese actors ever, Chen Kun as Qin Ming, the yin yang master/Seimei

Zhou Xun as Bai Ni/Yao Bikuni

William Chan as Ci Mu

Claudia Wang as the Peach blossom fairy

Shen Yue as Shen Le/Kagura

Cici Wang as the Snow lady –

Wang Yue Yi as the Butterfly monster

And finally, Shaw Qu as Yuan Bo Ya/Hiromasa.

This stellar cast for The Yin Yang Master truly excites me, and I’m equally eager to get more insight into the world of Onmyoji. I’ve never played the game, but I have seen the 2020 animated series. Sadly, the anime episodes were too short; hence I’m very thankful for these live-actions that allow me to dive more into this intriguing fantasy world. Since Netflix also picked up the international distribution for this version, I’ll wait to watch both the 2020 and 2021 adaptation together. As of now, there’s no official date for the international release since this film just started airing in China.

To close this post, here are all the teasers/trailers for The Yin Yang Master. I saved them for last just in case anyone prefers to go into a movie without knowing what sort of visuals to expect, so watch at your discretion –

My Pictorial|Poster Faves: The Ladies Are Serving It Cold

This post is dedicated to the women who recently made me go WOW!!!😳😳😳 She’s so pretty.

(Please Note: none of the images are mine. I got them from official websites and social media sites.)

It’s no surprise to have Shin Min Ah as my cover photo because she serves looks left, right and center all the time. She recently sat for an interview with COSMOPOLITAN Korea, so here are my favourite pictures from the shoot.img_4781img_4782

img_4779Her cheeks and facial structure are too perfect. I’m literally fangirling😂.

Next on this list is another person who never fails to slay my existence. The one, the only… Qi Wei. The Chinese actress and singer recently teased a few photos for a new single, and she looks bomb.img_4631img_4633_originalimg_4632

Up next is Korean actress Han So Hee. She is currently starring in the JTBC drama – The World of the Married. I have seen a few clips of that series, and the intensity is real. I don’t plan to watch it because this kind of marriage cheating plot drives me crazy, so I’ll only see the last episode when it’s done airing.

img_4790img_4791Han So Hee recently talked about her character during an interview with GRAZIA. She is truly a beauty, and I love the way her flowy hair shapes her face.

Moving on to Chinese actress Sandra Ma, another simple but gorgeous lady. I first saw her in Love Me, If You Dare alongside Wallace Huo, and she made me love her. That was such a good series, please go check it out if you haven’t watched it. It is available on Viki. My second drama from her was Oh My General, which was such a nice switch up and very hilarious.

The second to last on this list is the Korean actress Shin Ye Eun. She stars in the ongoing KBS2 drama – Meow, the Secret Boy. I am currently watching this series, and it’s quite okay. I like the less dramatic and relaxing atmosphere of the story. Plus, the cat is cute.img_4793

img_4795These are Shin Ye Eun’s recent photos for GRAZIA. She is such an adorable actress, I like the shape of her eyes. I believe she has the potential to grow her craft with the right projects.

And finally, my baby. Chinese actress Shen Yue for POSHPOSH.img_4488

img_4492img_4489She is another adorable actress, and although I haven’t been able to see her recent works, my first drama from her – A Love So Beautiful will always have a place in my heart. I love all her editorial photos, she’s effortlessly beautiful.

Just for fun, here are the posters for every drama I mentioned –

My Pictorial|Poster Faves: Shen Yue’s Exclusive

Recently most of the images that caught my attention were from the Chinese actress, Shen Yue. So I decided to create an exclusive post for her instead of placing her pictures among other posts I have planned.

(Please note: none of the images are mine, I got them from official websites and social media sites.)

First on Shen Yue’s showcase is her look for the “Like China” 2020 Television Arts Vanguard Awards. She is a blue pastel artwork in this set of photos. Her gorgeous gown is from SeleneChow.img_3048img_3049img_3050

Bringing in some radiance is her recent photos for Our Street Style. img_3129img_3128Her innocent look is so adorable.img_2721

img_3119img_3197img_3120Shen Yue stuns in YE’S by YESIR for a CCTV Chinese New Year program. How can one be so beautiful and angelic? White and cream complement her skin tone very well.

Last on this list is her latest photoshoot for BLUEVISON’s February Issue. img_3084img_3083img_3086img_3087img_3085
