Catching Up With Recent Comebacks: BIBI|LAY|SECHSKIES|Kim Myungsoo (L)|asepa|CIX

This post is a compiled review of the comebacks I missed from last week –

BIBI – “Eat My Love”

I love the beat on this song, and as always, BIBI sounds beautiful + the animation for the music video is adorable. I adore her quirky personality and how that shows in all her videos and singing style. She will surely make it big in the K-r&b arena because of her versatility. People need to stop sleeping on Korean R&B solo artists in general. The English translation of this song is available using this link 👉🏽 Color Coded Lyrics. “Eat My Love” is a cute song with a lovely message but not my favourite from this artist.

LAY – “Joker”

See, I already know that with LAY, I’m getting BOPS. Hence I came into this song expecting excellence, and I got that 100%. “Joker” is a lit track🔥. The beat is not all up in your face, but it’s the perfect tempo for LAY’s groovy vocals/rap. I went ahead to watch the live performance, and his stage presence fully sold me, and now this song is on my playlist.

PRODUCER contains nine self-composed songs from LAY’s time on the Chinese entertainment show – CZR II: I’m Singer-Songwriter. In this record, he gave a perfect balance of slow vibes, R&B sweetness and lit beats. I enjoyed the mix, and even though I can’t pick a favourite song right now, I live for the vocal quality on track 5 – “Stay With Me”.

SECHSKIES – “DON’T LOOK BACK”

Another beautiful ballad from SECHSKIES. Older generation groups always have so much emotional power in their voices, so I enjoyed listening to this song. The instrumental is equally captivating, and overall the production of this song is excellent. They also did well with the acting of each role for the music video. “DON’T LOOK BACK” is already on my playlist.

KIM MYUNGSOO (L of INFINITE) – “Between memory and memory”

This release is L’s 1st single album, so I was very excited about it. You all know I love ballads, so that already gave the song a fair chance in my books. I enjoyed watching the music video. It is beautiful, and every frame could be a legit screensaver. Plus, I love the serene vibe, and L looked effortlessly stunning. The instrumental is lovely and paired well with L’s calm vocal tone + I love the choral effect they used in some sections. “Between memory and memory” is a song that I see myself replaying a lot.

asepa – “Forever”

I believe this is asepa’s second single, and I haven’t listened to their first. The visuals for this music video are beautiful, and I love their voices. They sound stable for such a sweet slow track. I was genuinely impressed by the soft vocal runs from their main vocalists (sorry, I’m not familiar with their names yet.). I love that they’re not pushing their vocals to get extreme high notes but rather working effectively within their vocal range. “Forever” is a lovely song, and I already added it to my playlist. I’ll make time to check out their debut song.

CIX – “Cinema”

CIX is one of my newer interests. I first heard “What You Wanted” from Spotify, and I got intrigued. My favourite songs from their EP – Hello, Strange Time are “Jungle” & “Change Me”. So I’ve been dying to check out more from this group, and here is the perfect opportunity. “Cinema” has a catchy beat, and the vocals are equally top-notch. The set/visuals for the music video is very detailed and perfect for the upbeat vibe. I adore the retro sound of this song; it’s something I can always play on repeat.

Hello, Strange Dream is their 4th EP with five songs. After listening to this record, I officially became a fan of CIX. They have perfect vocals, captivating music, and their vibe is right up my alley. I’ll find time to check out their full discography and learn more about the members. I enjoyed all five songs on this new album, but if I were to pick just one to have on replay for days, it would be “Stairway To Heaven”.

That’s is all for this week’s catching up with recent comebacks; see you all in my next post💕💕💕.

SECHSKIES – ALL FOR YOU: Song Of The Week

I finally have some free time, so I am here to share with you guys my song for this week, which is “ALL FOR YOU” by SECHSKIES. I left this track on repeat while doing school work and even before going to bed.

Usually, when I’m deciding my song for each week, I try not to pick tracks that I have already reviewed or spoken about, but this is a rare case. img_3796Sechskies is a South Korean boy band that debuted on the 15th of April, 1997 as a six-member group. The members at that time were Eun Ji-won, Kang Sung-hoon, Kim Jae-duck, Lee Jai-jin, Jang Su-won and Ko Ji-Yong. Sechskies is part of the first generation of idol pop groups in Korea. They initially disbanded in 2000 but reunited in 2016 for a special episode of the variety program – Infinite Challenge. That same 2016, the group signed with YG Entertainment and started promoting as five members. Ko Ji-Yong could not continue with them due to work and family commitments, but he is still considered to be part of the group. He and his son later became a part of the hit reality show – The Return of Superman. Moving on to the 1st of January 2019, the main vocalist Kang Sung-hoon announced his departure from the group due to some controversies. Hence Sechskies currently has only four active members, which are Eun Ji-won, Kim Jae-duck, Lee Jai-jin and Jang Su-won.

Honestly, I think this is one of the catchiest songs I have ever listened to. The melody got stuck in my head, so I found my self coming back for more. I simply couldn’t resist. I love whenever they sing “tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight… I’ll do all for you.” Plus, “ALL FOR YOU” gives off a sense of warmth and love. I feel at peace whenever I have this song on. I love everything about it. From the aesthetically pleasing music video to the lyrics, which are incredibly heartfelt and down to their beautiful voices. First-generation Kpop idols always have this relaxed and nostalgic vibe that instantly draws me in. I found out about Sechskies after their reunion, and I am so happy to be a fan because they always release the best songs.

Fun fact – This song is actually dedicated to Yellowkies (the name for Sechskies’ fandom). At the end of the video, you can see people in yellow raincoats holding yellow umbrellas. Yellow is the group’s official colour, and the people represent the fans that continue to support Sechskies.

That is all for this post. I hope you all enjoy listening to “ALL FOR YOU” by SECHSKIES as much as I do.

Catching Up With Recent Comebacks – Part 1

I have been quite busy, so I couldn’t review most of the songs that got released lately. Now here is a list of the recent releases that I truly enjoyed –

BIBI – Restless: img_3355 This is such a soothing song to listen to. BIBI has a unique tone, and she always makes the most lovely tracks. So I highly recommended “Restless” to anyone who needs some chill music to help them relax. Plus, the music video is beautiful, and BIBI is so adorable.

Vince Feat. Zion.T – EMERGENCY:img_3357 I actually planned to check this out because of Zion.T. I really do not know much about Vince, he seems to be a new artist. I could only find two songs on his Spotify account, and I am already in love with his sound. Vince has the classic Korean sexy R&B vibe, so if that is your arena, you will enjoy his songs. Here is his other song titled “MENNAL” –

SECHSKIES EP – ALL FOR YOU: img_3358 I am so happy that they are back. I adore the sound of older Kpop groups. They always give off a nostalgic and sweet feel. Plus, their songs are also very catchy. This new EP has five songs. The title track is also called “ALL FOR YOU”. I enjoyed listening to all five songs. My favourites are – “ALL FOR YOU” & -“MEANINGLESS”. Here is a sample of the EP –

HYUKOH EP – through love:img_3361 HYUKOH always impresses with their music, so I had to check out their latest album. I recently featured their old song “TOMBOY” as my song for this week. To check out that post, use this link 👉🏼 HYUKOH – TOMBOY: Song Of The Week. This new album has six songs, and it is quite different from their usual sound. It has more instrumental solos and less lyrical sections. The songs made me feel like I was lying in an open field while staring at the sun. They sound very trancelike and give off a sense of serenity. I added the entire album to my playlist because just selecting a few songs will cause me to miss out on the full experience. HYUKOH’s through love is another good recommendation for some good relaxation time.

Lee Seung Chul – I will give you all:img_3118 I saw Park Bo-gum in the teaser, so I decided to check it out, but I stayed for the singer’s beautiful voice. This song is an OST for a webtoon called The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor. This is my first time listening to anything from Lee Seung Chul, but I plan to check out more of his songs later. He is an older singer, so his control of this classic ballad sound is impeccable. If you are a ballad lover like me, you will really enjoy listening to this song. The instrumental for this track also has some rock elements, so if you like that, this is for you.

Baek Ji Woong – A Weary Night: img_3218_original I love the deep voice of this singer, and I cannot wait to check out more of his songs. “A Weary Night” is another beautiful ballad. It is the classic slow song accompanied by a keyboard and orchestra. Such songs might seem simple, but what really makes or mars it is the singer’s ability. Baek Ji Woong has a compelling and calming tone, so I was captivated right from his first note. He is really talented. I love discovering new artists to add to my long list of faves.
