Catching Up With Recent Comebacks: ROSÉ|WayV|SOYOU|Young K x PARKMOONCHI & Jun. K

(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while checking out each artist.)

On March 12th, ROSÉ (of BLACKPINK) made her solo debut with the single album – R –. Let’s check out the two songs on the album, and since I am fashionably late, I get to watch the music video for the B-side as well.

I love the visuals for this music video. ROSÉ looks stunning in every outfit and sounds equally beautiful. From the look of things, this song is entirely in English. “On The Ground” sounds like something that would get good play on Western radios. It’s a cute song, and I could see myself coming back to it a few times.

This music video also has fantastic visuals. “Gone” is more on a mid-tempo, and I love that the base instrument is a guitar. I enjoy ROSÉ’s vocal colour on this one more because it sounds raw and unfiltered. I will be playing this song a lot more than the title track.

WayV released their 3rd mini-album, Kick Back, on March 10th. I will react to the title track first and follow up with some brief thoughts on the album.

My babies!!! I’ve been itching to check out their comeback. I can already tell that the choreography is about to be sickening just from the first few seconds. Xiao Jun’s vocals, though! He gets me every single time; I love his voice. The chorus is quite catchy, the vocalists did a beautiful job during that section, + the choreography is fantastic. When this song first started, I wasn’t feeling it that much, but after hearing the chorus and vocal arrangement, I’m all in. Is it my favourite title track from WayV? No, but I LOVE IT.

I enjoyed the vocal quality on this album a lot. The way they layered the vocals, to how well each singer and rapper mixed on each track, every aspect of the production was beautiful. I sense some growth from WayV in this record. Kick Back gets a 10/10 from me and my favourite songs in no particular order are “Action Figure” – “Horizon” and “All For Love”

Up next is SOYOU. She released a single titled – “Good Night, MY LOVE” on March 11th, so let’s check it out.

The music video is interesting. I love how it starts like a short film before the actual song comes in. Soyou deserves more recognition. She has a great voice, and her MVs come with beautiful visuals, so it’s either her company is slacking on promotions, or people are sleeping on her talent. “Good Night, MY LOVE” is a relaxing ballad, and whoever did the backing vocals on this song served awesomeness on all levels. The way the singer’s voice melts into Soyou’s is impressive to hear. I love everything about this song.

Following up is a collaborative single from Young K (of DAY6) and PARKMOONCHI titled “What A Wonderful Word”.

From the few seconds of the instrumental intro, I can already tell that I will enjoy this song a lot. Young K’s voice is so smooth. The man has a fantastic set of pipes, + he looks good. “What A Wonderful Word” is a chill R&B; I love it. Also, PARKMOONCHI did great on the keyboard. I have to check out more from her.

JUN. K (of 2PM) released his 5th Japanese mini-album, THIS IS NOT A SONG, on March 10th. The title track is “Moon Light, 2003” but since it doesn’t have an official music video, I will go straight into sharing my opinions on the album. Before that, here’s the MV for the pre-release single – “THIS IS NOT A SONG, 1929” –

This album is pure R&B goodness with the combo of smooth and powerful vocals from Jun. K. Also fantastic production on the instrumentals for each track. Therefore it gets a 10/10 from me. Honestly, it’s hard to choose a favourite based on my first listen because every song has something fresh to offer. However, if I was recommending songs on this record right now, it will be “THIS IS NOT A SONG, 1929” for the vocal delivery and “River Flows, 1971” for the comforting message.

That’s all for now, and I hope you all enjoyed reading this post. Feel free to give me your opinions on each artist in the comment section🥰.

Catching Up With Recent Comebacks: IU|BOBBY|DREAMCATCHER & NCT 127

This week had so many comebacks, but I couldn’t react to each artist immediately, so here is my usual ‘catching up’ compilation. In this post, I’ll share brief thoughts on each song, and when there’s an album involved, I’ll list out my favourite tracks.

IU – “Celebrity”

I believe this song is a pre-release single for IU’s upcoming album. First off, this music video’s visuals are stunning, and IU is gorgeous. I love all her outfits, and she sounds fantastic as always. The rhythm and melody for “Celebrity” are very catchy. I think this song encourages everyone not to give up no matter how rocky things get. Even if you start to lose yourself in the process, make a trackback, keep working hard and trust that you’re a star that will surely shine someday. That’s the message I got; hopefully, I’m partially correct. All the same, I love “Celebrity”, and I added it to my playlist already.

BOBBY – “U MAD”

This song is the title track from BOBBY’s 2nd album – Lucky Man. “U MAD” is an intense song, right up in your face! I enjoyed BOBBY’s flow, and the beat + the chorus section is LIT🔥. I like how they stripped out the instrumental during the second verse to let BOBBY bring more heat to his rap. The music video’s visuals are good, + the production on “U MAD” served excellence. From the lyrics, I know this one is for his haters, and I LOVE IT!

The one word for this album is LIT!!! Well deserving of a 10/10 rating because BOBBY served bops back to back. I enjoyed the in-your-face vibes, + the features from other IKON members were so good. Every song on this album is perfect; hence, I can’t exactly pick my favourites now.

DREAMCATCHER – “Odd Eye”

“Odd Eye” is the title track off DREAMCATCHER’s 6th mini-album – Dystopia: Road to Utopia. I love the music video’s distorted visuals and the EDM/Rock elements for the beat. The majority of songs I have heard from this group are heavily rock-influenced, but I appreciate how they still sound different on each track. Dami is a force to be reckoned with because her flow and presence are insane. Would I say “Odd Eye” is my favourite song from DREAMCATCHER? No, but it’s certainly a good vibe.

The album is good; it gave me some anime intro vibes but still followed the title track’s EDM/Rock style. My ultimate favourite song is “Poison Love”. My rating for this record is 8/10, which means it’s okay, but still not something I see myself replaying a lot.

NCT 127 – “First Love”

This song is NCT 127’s pre-release single for their upcoming Japanese album – LOVE HOLIC, which releases on February 17th. The main things I enjoyed on this track were their voices, harmonization, and how they layered the backing vocals; it gave off such a cool effect while listening. The beat is also fire, and overall the production is top-notch. I certainly see myself going back to replay “First Love” a lot, and I’m looking forward to the album.

WayV – Awaken The World: Album Review

YESSS!!!! My babies are back, and I am super excited. WayV just released their first full-length album titled Awaken The World. It has ten songs including the title track “Turn Back Time” img_8140I already have a detailed profile post for WayV, which can be accessed with this link 👉🏼 WayV: Star Showcase. Also, if anyone needs the teaser images for this album, use this link 👉🏼 Official Tumblr Account. Most of the photos that don’t make it to my pictorial|poster faves always go on my Tumblr.

(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exacts thoughts while listening to each song.)

Reaction to Title Track/Official MV:

  • This concept is something else. I love how the song starts with a loud siren and the heartbeat that naturally calls for anyone’s attention.
  • My babies are looking GOOD. Ten is serving me looks.
  • The song hasn’t even started, and I’m already fangirling this hard.
  • Thankfully, Label V always gives captions.
  • This beat is unusual but intriguing.
  • Wait, wait… they didn’t have to come in that hard. I need to start this video from the beginning.
  • By the way, I love their outfits or lack of in some scenes.
  • Okay, I won’t lie. The intro with Lucas kind of threw me off a bit because I wasn’t expecting it to be so hip-hop based. My ears got more in line with this song once Kun started singing.
  • Now let’s see how the chorus turns out.
  • XiaoJun is always slaying me vocally.
  • After the chorus, I’m 50/50 on this song, but I absolutely love the section that starts when Lucas says- “Stop, rewind, turn back time…5432” The melody there is catchy, and the choreography was very smooth.
  • Okay, the rap parts sound way better to me in the second verse. I love Lucas, Winwin and Yangyang’s rhythm and flow. Maybe my ears were just too shocked during the intro.
  • I can see that Winwin has a substantial amount of lines, and for some reason, Label V has decided not to give him a shirt. OKAY.😂😂😂
  • I like that Winwin gets more shine in WayV, so I always make sure to confirm that they are consistent with him in each comeback.
  • Yangyang is always spitting fire on every WayV song. I literally live for his parts.
  • Everyone sounds terrific, and I like the chorus now. I guess I just needed more time with it.
  • They are really out here not giving these boys shirts. What the heck???😳
  • Ten looks gorgeous with this length of hair.
  • As always, we have a dance break. Also, this section sounds like a score for a car racing game.
  • That “Stop, rewind, turn back time” is the standout point of this song to me.
  • Alright, I’m going to listen to “Turn Back Time” again before giving my final thoughts.
  • This is a great song, and I love that it showcases a different side from their previous title tracks, but I’m not 100% on it yet. However, visually speaking, it is one of my favourite concepts from them.
  • I think what this song lacks for me is the unique WayV touch. This seems more like a track for NCT 127.
  • Now you all know I love NCT 127, but I prefer each NCT-unit to have their own distinct sprinkle. Hence why I hope to hear a better balance with the remaining songs on the album.

Album Review:

img_8139

Here is the album on Spotify –

  1. Turn Back Time – Because this has that standard NCT 127 vibe, it got better after hearing it a lot. I have listened to it four times now, and I can confirm that “Turn Back Time” does slap hard. Once I’m done with this review, I will watch the music video again to enjoy it properly.
  2. Bad Alive – This starts out with a heavily synthesized beat, and Lucas seems to be taking the lead on this album. Okay, this song definitely goes hard, and I love the inclusion of sirens again. The vocal sections are beautiful. “Bad Alive” is also hip-hop based like the title track, but I feel it has more of the balance I was looking for. Or it could just be that my ears are accustomed to this new sound for them. Whatever it is, I LOVE THIS SONG. It will be a total blast if played through a car speaker. I can just imagine the bass of it all. I think so far, what I’ve noticed is that this album is going to allow more room for every member to shine equally because the rappers are giving me life on this track. While the vocalists are also killing me with their insane runs and high notes. Plus, everyone blends well. The melody for the chorus is pure 🔥 , and the overall production of this song screams perfection.
  3. Unbreakable – Oh, I love how the instrumental flowed perfectly from “Bad Alive” into this song. XiaoJun is a vocal beast. The boy stays flexing his God-given pipes. The beat on this is body rolls worthy. Okay, WayV, you guys came through. I was kind of scared after the title track, but I love the songs. Yangyang and Hendery stay riding every beat correctly with their epic flow. Plus, Lucas ain’t helping with that his smooth deep voice. “Unbreakable” has a very sexy vibe to it, and I am just here dancing💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼. I love it when they sing in unison because their harmonies are always on point. I constantly wonder where SM Entertainment gets its artists or what sort of training they give them because the talent is overflowing in this group. Some parts of this song slightly remind me of “Highway to Heaven”
  4. After Midnight – This seems a bit slower compared to the previous tracks. Oooh, I wasn’t expecting the melody to sound like this. Nice switch up, and why does the beat sound slightly retro to me? I love songs with finger snaps, and the chorus is beautiful – “Touch me after midnight…I like it better after midnight.” This seems to be “Love Talk” part 2, and I am here for all of it. Also, I noticed that the rappers are singing, but since this a more vocal track, they got fewer parts. “After Midnight” is a BOP, and it is climbing up to be my favourite. The instrumental is pure bliss. WOW, the production is impeccable. You all need to listen to those harmonies during the chorus and the high note at the end. WHAT?… WayV did not come to play with us.
  5. Interlude: Awaken The World – I wonder what the second half of the album is going to sound like, and I do love the beat for this interlude.
  6. Only Human – Things are getting soft and sentimental with this one. I’m guessing that this song has only the rap line. It is officially their time to shine, and I love the rap-singing style they are using. Plus, Winwin’s singing voice sounds lovely. He needs to be added to the vocal line, Lol. Yangyang is a whole king. Among all the rappers, Hendery and Yangyang are the ones that always call for my attention. Also, the rap line stays, giving us solid sentimental bops. Last time it was “King of Hearts”, and now we have “Only Human”. At this rate, every song on this album will end up on my playlist, and I am not complaining.
  7. Domino – The intro is catchy, and whoever started this song is too good? That voice…I need to confirm who it belongs to. I checked, and of course, it’s XiaoJun. At first, I thought it was Ten, but something didn’t feel right. Ten’s voice is slightly softer. YESSS, Lucas is the best hype man for all their songs. I live for the way he leads into the rap sections. Oh, I wasn’t expecting the chorus to be this way, but I like it. They are giving me harmonies and good background vocals, as always. The bass on this beat kind of hits hard. This album is made up of hip-hop influenced tracks and some sexy R&B grooves. A perfect combo if you ask me.
  8. Up From Here – The drum beats are epic, and the vocalists are reigning on this track. Hendery is giving me life, I am here for his energy. Oh, what is the weird beat that comes in when they start singing as if they’re counting each word? Whatever it is, I LOVE IT. The chorus is perfect, and I love the progression during that section. The instrumental feels like very smooth rhythmic claps. The production is insane. Lol when they sing, “Love me like do,” I feel like they are about to continue with, “Love me like do, what are you waiting for?”😂😂😂 “Up From Here” is another solid track.
  9. Electric Hearts – This seems to be more of a bubbly pop song. Okay, I can tell for sure that Ten is the one starting this song. I love that “Ah ah, oh, oh.” That was a beautiful falsetto right before the main verse entry. I really like the instrumental progression, and the EDM infusion is perfect for this song. “Electric Hearts” is such a classic dance song. The switch with the rappers during the bridge section is heavenly, and the build-up is pure fire. I need to blast this song on my speaker tomorrow. The ending is beautiful. I love how the stripped away the heavy instrumental and ended with just raw vocals.
  10. Stand By Me – They always end their album with this kind of casual tracks, so I was expecting this vibe. The melody for the chorus is lovely and very catchy. Whenever they sing in unison, I get chills from their harmonies. “Stand By Me” feels like something I would have heard at the ending of a 2000s Disney movie. I am getting major nostalgic waves while listening to this song.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I am pleased with this album. Good job, WayV👏👏👏👏👏👏. At first, I was skeptical and nervous about the sound, but I came to love it a lot with each new song. The boys truly brought their A+ game, and I love seeing them grow as artists. I already added the ten tracks to my playlist because although I have my faves, everyone was equally enjoyable and could fit what I like listening to when I’m in a very chirpy mood.

Therefore my rating for WayV’s first full-length album – Awaken The World is a 10/10.

Before I close this post, I want to speak a bit about the fashion accessories issue with Kun and Winwin teaser outfits. Now I know this caused the delay of WayV’s music video today, and also the release of their physical album has been postponed. Label V wants to make the needed corrections to the printed photos of Kun and Winwin –

img_8120

img_8119I’m glad that Label V took people’s advice and are actually working to make corrections before releasing the physical album. I noticed that they already made changes to the digital photos, so kudos to them for being responsive to the risen concerns. Moving ahead, I hope that Label V and the stylist properly cross-check everything before putting them on the boys because such mistakes could quickly escalate into more prominent scandals. I want my babies to succeed and stay problem-free.

That’s my piece on the fashion accessory issue. I hope you all continue to support WayV and keep streaming Awaken The World because it is available online. Love you all.💕

NCT #127 – Neo Zone: The Final Round: Album Repackage Review

Yes, I am here to give you all my review for the repackaged version of NCT 127’s second album. This version is called Neo Zone: The Final Round, and it has seventeen tracks with four new songs added. The title track is “Punch”

Now since I have already reviewed the original album, I will only be checking out the four new songs. If you need to read my previous review or NCT 127’s profile, use this link 👉🏼 NCT #127 – Neo Zone: Album Review

With the original album, I added my six favourite songs (Kick It, Boom, Day Dream, Love Song, White Night and Not Alone) to my personal playlist. So I want to see how many of these new tracks will make my cut.

(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to each song.)

Reaction to Official MV/Title Track:

  • Oh, what is the computer game sound?
  • I love their robotic choreography.
  • So the first title track was “Kick It”, and now we have “Punch”. They really want to fight.😂😂😂
  • Is that game sound going to stay throughout the song?
  • I kind of like it.
  • I am feeling this gothic leather and chain outfits the boys have on.
  • Thankfully I have English captions, but with everything going on, I can’t really pay attention to the lyrics.
  • Once again, they incorporated some fighting moves into the dance.
  • Okay, Taeyong needs to calm down. The way he came in whispering his part was too disrespectful.
  • Jaehyun just had to follow suit and whisper his lines also. Why are these boys like this?
  • Anytime I react to NCT 127, they keep coming for my neck.
  • That “Hot, Hot, Hot” line is pure eargasm.
  • Wait a minute Johnny…. you didn’t have to come in like that.
  • At first, I thought Haechan was about to slay me, but then Johnny’s vocals said: “hold up, sister, I’M HERE.”😏
  • Honestly, Johnny has been serving me looks, vocals, and center power this entire era. I am living for his energy. DAMN BOY.Yes, Taeil, kindly come in with those classic high notes.
  • The chorus is smooth but still LIT. “Hey, We Ballin’.”
  • I think they switched the beat up a little during that section.
  • I like how the intense beats drop out during the vocal sections. It draws all your focus to the singer’s voice, and Doyoung sounds fantastic.
  • In fact, all the vocalists are killing it.
  • They need to give my boy Yuta more lines. I have only seen him in the center once since the music video started, and he’s just dancing.
  • SM?????😠 Yuta is slaying his look, and yet he can’t even shine like others???img_6652
  • By the way, my second favourite outfit for this music video is the red jacket on jeans.
  • I love how they slowed the tempo of the chorus towards the end before blessing us with incredible vocal runs in the background.
  • I enjoyed listening to “Punch”, It has the classic retro sound, which I appreciate. It’s for sure, going on my personal playlist.
  • However, I don’t think this song holds up to the original title track, so I can’t give it a full score.
  • Therefore, my rating for “Punch” by NCT #127 is 9/10.

B-sides Review: img_6647

  • NonStop – This has a similar retro sound. I love how sharply they came with the rap, and the vocal entry was smooth and fitting. I am here for this vibe. Honestly, the singing sections and instrumentalization on this track are A+++. I’m not feeling the first part of the chorus, but the rest of the song sounds okay to me. I love the intense build-up for the bridge. It definitely took the song to the next level. I’m 70/30 on this song. I like some parts, and then other parts seem off for me. Maybe after a few more listens, I will come to enjoy it more. I have to listen to it again… okay after a few more listens, it sounds way better. My current rating for “NonStop” is 8.5/10.
  • Prelude – This is a 1:45 minute introduction into “Kick It”, and it’s basically a remix of the Kick It instrumental. It starts out quite slow and then gradually builds up into the energy of the next track. I LIKE THAT.
  • Make Your Day – This seems to be a slow song compared to the rest. It’s like an R&B ballad. NCT’s vocalists nail every note that comes out from their mouth, and the vocal runs on this track are blessed. I love the soft piano and classical instrumental, It’s soothing. Taeil sounds like he’s floating through the sky, and Haechan’s voice is killing me softly. I’m living for every moment of this song. So my guess is that only Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, Jaehyun and Jungwoo are on this. “Make Your Day” is a beautiful song. I LOVE IT. The harmonies and high notes gave me major eargasm. My rating for it is 10/10.

Final Thoughts:

– “Punch” – “NonStop” and – “Make Your Day” are now on my personal playlist. This means I have nine songs in total from the Neo Zone album. Therefore, I can conclude that NCT #127 did a standard job with this repackaged version. Even though I have my faves, I do enjoy going back once in a while to hear the other tracks. So yea, the boys did their thing with this era. I hope they get some well-deserved rest before their next comeback and SM😒, give my boy Yuta more lines next time. Please, and Thank you.

What do you all think of the new songs on the repackaged album?

NCT DREAM – Reload: Kpop Album Review

I find it odd that this is the only subunit of NCT that I don’t keep up with. Therefore today, I am going to give them a shot. Here’s to hoping that they impress me🥂🥂🥂. As of now, the only members I know are Jeno and Haechan.

NCT DREAM is a South Korean pop group that currently consists of six members – Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung. They are a sub-unit of NCT managed by SM Entertainment. They initially debuted as seven members in 2016 with the digital single “Chewing Gum”. Mark from NCT U/NCT #127 was formerly in this unit, but he graduated??

Basically, NCT DREAM was meant to be the teenage unit with an average age of 15. Once a member turned 20, they would have the opportunity to join the older members, but during April of this year, the graduation system was scrapped. All members are now fixed. So even though Mark left, he still has the opportunity to come back and promote as a fixed member. I personally feel Mark should step back from this unit because the man is in almost every NCT unit and other joint projects. SM??? Give the boy a break.

Anyways, on April 29th, NCT DREAM released their 4th mini-album titled Reload. It has five songs including the title track “Ridin'”

(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exacts thoughts while listening to each song.)

Reaction to Title Track/Official MV:

  • Okay, we are starting out with some sirens.
  • I love the toy car in the beginning. So cute.
  • They all look good, but the guy with the blue hair, I believe his name is Jaemin. He is calling to me.
  • You know, in Kpop, you don’t just casually choose a bias. The bias picks you.
  • I’ve always had a thing for Jeno, but Jaemin… hmmm.😏
  • Thankfully, I have English captions.
  • The beat seems heavily synthesized, or is it just my ears? I love it, though.
  • Yep, Jaemin needs to calm down and stay in his lane. I AM TRYING TO FOCUS ON THE MUSIC HERE.
  • I love their sound. It still has that classic NCT vibe, but it’s more youthful.
  • WAIT A MINUTE… Haechan. These boys are going to kill me.
  • The way he came in smoothly with those vocals at the 0.50 seconds mark. He never fails to amaze me.
  • As expected from any NCT unit, their vocalists are solid.
  • I think his name is Renjun. He sounds so beautiful. Plus, the blonde hair is doing him justice.
  • Honestly, Renjun has so many hair colours in this music video. I also saw white and pink???
  • The chorus and choreography are slick. It makes me want to body roll and bust some moves even though I can’t dance to save my life.😂😂😂
  • Anytime Jisung appears on my screen, I go aww!!! and then oooh!! he grown.👀
  • The rap line is bringing the perfect level of groove to this song. Their flow is good.
  • Jaemin is really coming for my neck, guys. I can’t help myself.🤩🤩🤩
  • Okay… Chenle. His voice is soothing.
  • I love to stan multi-talented kings.
  • I am really impressed and happy that I gave them the chance to show me their skills.
  • Jaemin with that “Let’s roll” is a whole vibe.
  • I love how they slowed things down and then came back in with an accelerated bridge. SO GOOD.
  • “Ridin'” is a BOP, Periodttttt.
  • It has it all. From the vocals, raps, to the instrumental, even the choreography and set. Everything is perfectly produced.
  • All the boys stood out to me, and I am ready to dive more into their discography.
  • The set where they’re on the motorbikes reminds me of EXO’s “Tempo”, which is another bomb song from SM.
  • I’m glad they got their first win with this song. I LOVE IT.

Album Review:

  1. Ridin’ – I’m just going to leave this song on repeat for a while before moving on. I am listening to the album on Spotify, and the track clip is killing me with all their close-up shots. They are all so beautiful. I can’t deal.
  2. Quiet Down – I love this electronic beat, and I have a strong feeling that this song is going to be🔥. WHAT WAS THAT?… “yea, ooh.” Haechan, please stop coming for my neck. I most certainly just experienced eargasm😂😂😂. Also, who has that deep background vocal in the beginning? These boys will be the death of me. SOMEBODY SEND HELP. I don’t think I can get through this track in one piece. BREATHE Chris… BREATHE. Okay, I’m good, let’s continue. “Quiet Down” is too groovy. I love their harmonies during the chorus section. All I need now is to plug my phone to a speaker to enjoy this song to the fullest. I just want to dance. The vocalists in this group are very disrespectful will all their falsetto and R&B vocal tone. Plus, the production on this is lit. “Quiet Down” is going on repeat for a while.
  3. 7 Days – Okay, this seems more bubbly and the right level of cutesy. I know I’ve mentioned this way too many times already but their voices, WOW. And I didn’t forget the rappers. Their tone and flow come together so well. I love that the beat still goes hard on this bubbly track. The melody for “7 Days” is lovely. Yet another awesome song from NCT DREAM. I appreciate the very different vibes from all the songs so far. I am also going to replay “7 Days” because I LOVE IT. The vocal runs on this song are excellent.
  4. Love Again – Alright, “Love Again” is more bouncy, and the bass on this makes me want to bob my head. I always enjoy a good call and response singing style. I’m also enjoying the little English/vocal improvisation throughout the verses. It looks like I will be adding the entire album to my playlist. The chorus reminds me of another song, but I can’t place it now. All the same, this is a dance anthem.💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 WAIT ANOTHER MINUTE… what was that beat switch up after the chorus? “Keep, keep, keep it on the low” – I like whatever they did there. I am feeling the rappers more in the one. Their rhythm is giving me life. Quite Interesting… I just heard someone saying “low'” in a very shallow tone right before the bridge, and I love that effect. The production quality for this album is 100% solid.
  5. Puzzle Piece – This went by too fast. How can I be on the last song already? The guitar entry for “Puzzle Piece” reminds me of something else. Jaemin is beautiful, and Spotify isn’t helping by having only his scene for the track clip. This is clearly the soft song of the album and a nice way to end things. It’s very peaceful and perfect for my bedtime. Not my favourite on the album but an equally beautiful song where they don’t do much vocal runs or raps. I appreciate simplicity every now and then.

Final Thoughts:

I can’t lie. I am officially a fan of NCT DREAM, and I will be keeping up with all their future activities. I had high hopes for them, and they exceeded my expectations. I am genuinely impressed with the standard of this album. Reload was like a sweet and beautiful gift. I feel uplifted, and I’m in a delightful mood now. I added all five songs to my playlist, and I followed them on Spotify to get regular updates. I am off to check out the English lyrics for the B-sides now.

My rating for NCT DREAM’s 4th mini – Reload is a solid 10/10.

NCT #127 – Neo Zone: Kpop Album Review

This review is coming out quite late because I didn’t have enough time to check it out once it dropped, but I still want to share my thoughts on NCT 127’s latest album.img_3829NCT 127 is a sub-unit of the South Korean boy group known as NCT. They are managed by SM Entertainment. The acronym NCT stands for Neo Culture Technology, and the number 127 represents the longitudinal coordinate of Seoul. This unit debuted on July 7th, 2016, with the EP – NCT #127. The group started out with seven members – Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, and Haechan. Later on, in the same year of their debut, Johnny and Doyoung were included in the unit. And in 2018, Jungwoo became the tenth member of NCT 127. Currently, there are only nine active members. Winwin is not an active member due to his participation in WayV, which is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT. On the 6th of this month, NCT 127 came back with their second album titled Neo Zone. The title track for this new release is called “Kick It”

(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to each song.)

Reaction to Official MV/Title Track:

  • I am excited, and I can tell that this is about to be lit.
  • I tried my best to stay away from the teasers and tweets because I want a full experience.
  • Already… just four seconds in and the beat is calling to me.
  • I hear some rock elements from this instrumental.
  • The colour scheme for this music video is beautiful. The yellow, brown and black are popping off.
  • Oh, yea, yellow and black is Bruce Lee’s colours. I watched a lot of his movies growing up.
  • The choreography is going hard, they are killing this.
  • No, for real is choreo is slick, I LOVE THIS.
  • So it looks like they plan on flashing their abs at me throughout this music video, I ain’t complaining.😊😊😊
  • NO, NO… hold up, WAIT A MINUTE. My man Johnny did not come to play with anyone in this era. He is fine.😍😍😍
  • I see you, Johnny –I also love the traditional elements that were used for the outfits and set design.
  • Yess Haechan come in with those smexy vocals.
  • I love how the beat switched up for the RnB style vocal entry. Very nice production.
  • Okay, NCT 127’s vocalists are killing it as usual, but Jonny and Yuta… damn, they both have all my attention.
  • Also, can we just talk about the energy in this music video? So good.
  • “new thangs, new thangs, new thangs,” I am vibing.
  •  Okay, guys, can you all tell NCT 127 to stop disrespecting me with visuals. I thought I was stuck on Johnny and Yuta, but Jaehyun just came out of nowhere and left a sister stunned😮😮😮 –img_4037img_4038
  • I need a break, and I am not even halfway through the video. What did I sign up for???
  • On that note, I am just going to leave the teaser images for Yuta here because why not. He looks so good with this hairstyle –There are a lot of high kicks and martial art moves for the choreography. It must be difficult.
  • I always enjoy it when Mark and Taeyong bass the baton of flow during their rap sections.
  • Somebody, please hold Johnny… I’m so done. All I wanted was a bop, not a visual slap in the face.😭😭😭
  • The rhythm for this song is quite catchy. Most especially when they sing – “Baby we go wild… ehhh!!!, one-two seven squad… ehhh!!!, we ain’t never gonna stop. Even if we can’t see the end, just go.”
  • I love how bubbly and intense the instrumental is. I see myself jamming out to this song a lot.
  • Of course, we have a dance break that came in with Taeil’s powerful vocals.
  • Alright, NCT 127. This is their sound, and they nailed it as usual.
  • For me, “Kick It” is a BOP AND A HALF, but I know that there are people who might not really enjoy this sound because it requires a specific mood AND VIBES.
  • All the same, I still enjoyed every second. Every member killed their part. I can see the amount of work the boys put into this comeback.
  • I was slapped in the face with abs, vocals, excellent rap skills, amazing choreo, impressive visuals both from the members and the music video set.
  • THEREFORE, I AM HERE FOR THIS SONG. It is, for sure, going on my playlist.
  • I am even more pumped now to check out the full album.

Album Review: img_3826Neo Zone has a total of twelve tracks. They also released short video teasers for the B-sides. Here is the link to those videos on YouTube – NCT#127 Album Preview. This is my first time listening to a full album from NCT 127, so I am excited to hear what their B-sides sound like.

  1. Elevator (127F) – I find it so cute that this song actually starts with an elevator’s arrival sound – ding. I always enjoy some clapping in songs. So far, this is slower in comparison to their title track. I hear some jazzy elements, and I love it. Okay… the chorus is simply the best groovy instrumental-only session I have listened to in a long while. This song is a safe way to start the album, but I don’t think it is going to be part of my favourites once I listen to the other eleven tracks.
  2. Kick It – This here is my ultimate jam and I dying to see if any other track on this album can beat it. For now, I’m just going to vibe before moving on to the next song. 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
  3. Boom – The starting of this one is giving me major black church choir vibes. I think it is because of the instrumental and choral notes. It feels like they’re about to bust into – “for the Bible says…”. That aside, I love it when they sing” Everyday aye…Yeah, aye” in unison. The way their voices melt into each other during that pre-chorus section is pure eargasm. The vocals in this are outstanding, and that beat switch that happens for the chorus is fantastic. “Boom” is definitely a major vibe. The vocalists are going off on this track. Even the rappers are singing, hallelujah!!.
  4. Pandora’s Box – Remember, I mentioned that I haven’t seen any teaser for this comeback, which means I also didn’t watch the short videos they released for each song. I included the links for you guys, but I was going to check them out after completing this review. Now “Pandora’s Box” started playing, and the Spotify track clips just hit me with Johnny and Yuta’s face. I can’t… I just can’t😭🤩😭🤩😭😭. What did I do to deserve all this beauty being thrown at me? Okay, enough fangirling.. back to the song. The vocals in this are also perfect. I love it when they sing in unison, their harmonies are incredible. The instrumental on this is also really catchy and bouncy, so it makes me want to move. Oooh, that high note and falsetto towards the end is pure bliss. Unquestionably, this is another excellent track on the album, but I’m not sure if I see myself listening to it a lot.
  5. Day Dream – So this time the Spotify clip hit me with some Doyoung visuals… okay, alright… 😊😊😊, moving on. The beginning of this song sounds like I am being put into a trance. This might be my next favourite after “Kick It.” It seems distorted but still, quite soothing. This is such a weird vibe, but I LOVE IT. Plus, the vocals on this are also pure eargasm. I can’t tell who is singing each part, but the person belting out that falsetto note during the chorus has truly blessed me. Yesss, “Day Dream” is my song.
  6. Interlude: Neo Zone – This is simply an instrumental break into the second half of the album. So far, aside from “Kick It,” we’ve had slow tempo/groovy tracks. From this interlude progression, I feel that things are about to go up to the LITTY level, and I am so ready.
  7. MAD DOG – I knew it, we are back to the hip-hop vibes. From what I’m hearing, only Mark and Taeyong are on this track. I love the distorted trap instrumental. “MAD DOG” is a party song but still not something I see myself listening to a lot. Oh, Taeil and Doyoung are also on this. The bass and drums on this song go hard, so if you are a core trap fan, this one is for you.
  8. Sit Down! – Another trap vibe… okay. Maybe I might enjoy this one better. Yesss, Jaehyun come in with those hot vocals. This is is more groovy instead of just going hard, and I love it. Alright… I am here for this chorus – “ay you, ay you (Sit down!)…  don’t tell me what to be (Sit down!)… don’t tell me where to be (Sit down!)…”. And then Johnny just comes in and kills things more with – “don’t get up, don’t stand up, please don’t put your hand up, and don’t make me tell you again, Sit down!”. Boys, boys, what are these lyrics???😂😂😂. I still love it, though. The harmonies on this are so good, and the chorus is very catchy.
  9. Love Me Now – This has a classic summer sound, but they have included some EDM elements to make it more interesting. I love the short vocal runs that were used to start the song. NCT 127, in fact, the whole of SM Entertainment has really talented vocalists. “Love Me Now” will make for a great car trip song. I can imagine a group of friends driving to their next vacation destination. I really wanted to go on a short vacation this summer, but with the way things are going, it won’t happen🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. I didn’t sign up for all this drama when entering 2020. Please stay safe, everyone.
  10. Love Song – The beginning of this song reminds me of “That’s What I like” by Bruno Mars. The drum patterns are quite similar, but this one is slower. So with “Love Song,” we are getting some well deserved smooth RnB from the Neo Zone album. I am kind of confused about this one. I am grooving to it, but at the same time, I am not 100% into it. Weird right? Hmmm… maybe I should give it a second listen to confirm my feelings. Okay, after replaying it a few times, I actually like it.
  11. White Night – Another RnB type of song. I love how the beat dropped for the chorus section. So smooth but still groovy. I know I have mentioned this a lot already, but they just continue to serve beautiful vocals. I love that I can really hear the piano in this track, it’s so calming. The vocal runs in this are pure bliss, and those soft background vocals are also a great addition.
  12. Not Alone – Oooh, I think this might be another favourite. I love how slow but body rolls worthy this song is. The instrumental is giving me slight 80s vibes, but that might just be me feeling nostalgic for an era I wasn’t born into. So please don’t take my word for a fact😂😂😂. The vocal runs at the end are so adorable. This is going on my playlist for sure.
  13. Dreams Come True – Finally, we have reached the last song on Neo Zone. This is a lovely closing song for the album. It fits the concept, but it isn’t doing much for me.

Final Thoughts:

Neo Zone has a lot of great songs, which means many people could easily enjoy at least two or three tracks from this album.

However, I still feel that the album lacked that WOW factor. I was left feeling 50/50 on most tracks. Hence I don’t see myself playing this album very often. I could let it play in the background while working on something else, but not many of the songs will be going on my personal playlist. Do you all get what I mean? Currently, my ultimate favourites are – “Kick It” – “Day Dream” and “Not Alone.” I also really like “Boom” and “Love Song,” so altogether, only five songs are going on my playlist, which falls short to me since this album has twelve songs.

All the same, the boys did a really great job vocally and rap wise, so I will give them Kudos for all the work they put in to create this album👏👏👏👏👏. I will continue to support them. Also, I hope Mark and Taeyong get a break soon because those two are working too much. To close this post, my rating for Neo Zone by NCT #127 is  8/10.

[STATION X] NCT U – Coming Home: Kpop Music Review

NCT U just dropped a winter track titled “Coming Home”

For this song, we have our regular vocalists from NCT U, which are – Taeil, Doyoung, and Jaehyun. The new addition to the unit is Haechan. star_5de4b9cf4385aWinter songs are my favourite, so I am excited.

(Note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to this song)

Reaction to Official MV:

  • First I have to check if this video has English subs… Okay, it does have subs.
  • Yes, to the drum starts. I have a strong feeling that is going to be good.
  • The instrumental on this is impressive.
  • Yesss Doyoung, please bless my ears. I always enjoy listening to him sing.
  • The visuals for the music video are clean and beautiful. Plus, the lighting is also really amazing.
  • Okay, Haechan come in with those soft vocal runs.
  • I love Jaehyun’s voice. His voice seems slightly deeper compared to the others, and that really adds a nice touch.
  • As expected, they all sound amazing, and Taeil is a freaking vocal powerhouse.
  • Oh, my these boys are not playing. Their voices are so beautiful.
  • This is a perfect ballad/RnB winter track, I LOVE IT.
  • WAIT, WAIT A MINUTE…WHO JUST HIT THAT HIGH NOTE. I believe it was Doyoung. WHAT??? THIS IS AMAZING.
  • Honestly, all these vocalists need to stop disrespecting me with their pitch-perfect voices.
  • I need to watch this video again. I did not pay much attention to the lyrics because I was so caught up in appreciating the vocals.
  • So this song is about coming home to someone special after being away for a long time. Basically, their time without that person was not pleasant, so they want to go back and experience the blissfulness once again.
  • Can I just mention again how perfect the drums on this track are? Also, the guitar rift section before Doyoung’s high note was excellent.
  • Jaehyun’s voice at the end of the song is too beautiful. He is an exceptional vocalist.
  • I love how soft and soothing this is. Very perfect for the season.
  • Everything was so well put together for this track. 100% from visuals, vocals to the emotions.
  • My point of climax for “Coming Home” is definitely when Doyoung hits that high note.
  • I have added this track to my personal playlist. So it is going to be on repeat for a while.
  • I really wish I could hear them perform this song live because they nailed every note.
  • I loved every moment of listening to “Coming Home” by NCT U. So I will have to agree with Haechan on the conclusion that it is a BOP.
  • My rating for this song is 10/10.

WayV – TAKE OVER THE MOON: Album Review

One of my favourite pop groups ever just released a new album, and I am so excited to check it out. On the 29th of October, which was yesterday, WayV came back with their second mini-album titled Take Over The Moon.

Since I already have a showcase for WayV on my blog, there is no need to spend time discussing who they are on this post. To know more about this group, click on this link – WayV: Star Showcase

“Moonwalk” is the title track for Take Over The Moon.

(This is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to the songs.)

Reaction to Official MV/Title Track:

  • I am so excited, I hope this is good because my expectation is off the roof right now.
  • The music video seems to be themed around space and landing on a new planet or something like that. That is what I am getting so far. Are WayV members aliens?🤯🤯🤯🤯, OMG, we will never know.😂😂😂
  • I love the way the song starts. The piano, vocals and heavy beat is a perfect way to create an epic and entrancing intro.
  • Kun sounds good.
  • The style for this song is giving me old-school Kpop vibes.
  • Xiaojun looks good, and that nose ring, though.💕
  • So far, I like that all members are getting an equal amount of screen time, and the line distribution is perfect.
  • Yesss, Ten. He looks so good, I love the blue contacts he has on.
  • The chorus is definitely giving me DBSK vibes, I love the way they sound in that section.
  • And I did not expect them to actually moonwalk.
  • Every member’s look is on point for this comeback.
  • Yes, to Winwin getting more lines. Show them what you are made of.
  • I am living for the groovy drum beat that comes in whenever Yangyang starts the rap section.
  • I always enjoy dance breaks, and WayV clearly kills it in the dancing department. Love the rock elements used during the dance break. Nice production.
  • Yesss, come through Xiaojun with that high note.
  • Perfect harmonization at the end.
  • I have to listen to the song again, just to focus more on the song itself and not the music video.
  • After checking out the English Translation, “Moonwalk” is encouraging people to face their problems head-on and never give up on their dreams.
  • This song does not go as hard as their previous title track “Take Off,” but it is still upbeat. Most of the vocal parts sound like they are about to break into a power-ballad. So I actually enjoyed listening to it.
  • Do I like this more than “Take Off”?… Hmmm, I like both equally, but I appreciate this song more because it allowed every member to shine. I can always listen to both songs on repeat, so why choose.😊😊
  • I just found out that they performed this on Show Champion. I am actually surprised that they went live on a Korean stage, but oh well. I am here for the extra content.

Album Review:img_1300(My opinion of each song is solely based on how I feel about the music. I have not checked out the English Translations yet.)

  1. Moonwalk – Okay, I noticed something new while listening to just the song. There is a specific beat that stays constant throughout the entire track. I am not a music expert, so I do not know the right word to use, but that stood out to me. I really like that beat. Also, the background vocals are excellent on this.
  2. Yeah Yeah Yeah – Interesting start, I definitely was not expecting it. This is more upbeat, and it also seems more like a rap track. The chorus is so good. I think I might actually like this more than “Moonwalk.” Am I weird? I feel “Yeah Yeah Yeah” could also pass at being a title track. It is a solid BOP, and I might listen to this more often.
  3. Love Talk – Is Ten starting this song? He got me with those sexy vocals. And then Luca came with his deep voice and killed his rap part. Another BOP. Yesss, a body roll beat. Ooooh, the vocal parts on this are too good. Wait a minute, then I actually like these songs better than the title track. What is going on here? I am already grooving to this💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼… “touch me, tease me, feel me up.” WayV’s rappers are talented. They always snap on the raps.
  4. King of Hearts – Okay, this starts off a bit softer than the previous two songs. Who is singing that “oh yeah yeah yeah.” They are slowly killing me with all these sexy vocals. What’s up, WayV? Anyways Lucas did not come to play with anyone on this comeback. His voice is distinct, so he stands out more, and he has been slaying his parts. At this point, all the vocalists are clearly disrespecting me with their voices; I am out😸😸😸. I think they could have done better with the chorus, but the song is still good. Background vocals, OMG…
  5. Face to Face – Is this going to be a full ballad. Such soft songs always hit my soul. The harmonization during the chorus is beautiful and the piano. They always get me with the keyboard. I might go learn how to play the instrument myself. So this song has only Ten, Xiaojun and Kun on it. The vocal range is so good that it almost seems like all members are singing. They sound like angels.
  6. We go nanana – Okay, we are going to end things on something upbeat. This is like a casual road trip song, and I love the pop vibe. Actually, this also has a Christmas feel to it. It is a cute song to end the album. I am just here dancing. There is nothing much to be said for “We go nanana,” I am totally enjoying it. Actually, pardon me, I now have something to say… Xiaojun needs to stop disrespecting me with his high notes. Like what?💕💕

Here a preview of the album for you all to have an idea of what the songs sound like –

Final Thoughts:

Overall this is a solid comeback. WayV did a great job with this album and the fact that the members wrote these songs is even more amazing. They at a good start, so I hope they continue to grow as artists.

I enjoyed listening to every song on Take Over The Moon. I thought the title track was going to be my favourite, but “Love Talk” definitely stole my heart. I also feel that this album beats their first mini – Take Off.

My rating for this album is 10/10.

So from the very first teaser image WayV released, it seems they still have a few surprises for us. I wonder what it is going to be.
