SuperM just released a new digital single titled “100”, so let’s check it out. SuperM is a South Korean boy group managed by SM Entertainment and Capitol Records. The group consists of seven members – Taemin from SHINee, Baekhyun & Kai from EXO, Taeyong & Mark from NCT 127 and finally Ten & Lucas from WayV. They officially debuted on October 4th, 2019, with a self-titled EP.
(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to this song.)
Reaction to Official MV:
Oh, sweet whispering harmony.
I love Lucas’ intro. They might not give him many parts, so its good to see him first.
Very energetic start, and all the boys look good.
I am enjoying the colourful and techno edits on this music video.
Another EDM track, but let’s see how it goes.
Ten, Ten, TEN!!! My boy always looks beautiful.😍
Okay, Mark, come in with the flow, and Baekyun slid in perfectly with his soft voice. His vocals are top-notch.
I can see the budget on this music video was limitless.
SuperM’s music videos are always iconic.
The futuristic visuals for this song are stunning.
Their makeup artist really went in with black and red eyeliners.😂
Taemin is always looking like a snack that I can only admire from afar. I love him.
Okay, whoever put those grayish-blue contacts on Ten deserves a raise.
Choreography wise, the boys are killing things.
I really love the energy of this song.
I think my favourite section is the bridge with Taemin breakdown and Baekyun’s iconic high note.
Alright. I’m going to listen to this song again before giving my final thoughts.
“100” by SuperM is a great song. I like it, but I’m not in love.
I might come to really enjoy it after a few more plays, but as of now, it gets a 9/10 from me.
(Please note – This is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to each song.)
“1 Billion Views” by EXO-SC (Feat. MOON)
Reaction to Official MV:
I love their drip and outfits. They both be looking good.
Chanyeol’s voice at the beginning tho, It’s so deep and sexy 😏🤭.
I appreciate the vocal layering on this track. It feels like an eargasm😂.
As the two rappers in EXO, I was expecting them to take the hardcore rap route, but they are giving us smooth retro vocals.
My favourite outfits are the blazer looks.
I love the music video’s visuals and the arcade concept.
This line 👉🏼”I cry I cry, I cry…” is so catchy. The entire chorus makes me want to sing along.
Oh, I forgot that this song has a featured artist until she came in. I love her voice; it blends well with Chanyeol and Sehun.
Finger clicking in any song instantly captures my attention, and this one makes me want to dance.
I don’t need to say much, I LOVE “1 Billion Views” from EXO-SC.
It gets a 10/10 rating from me.
Reaction to pre-release single “Telephone” –
Love how this started right away, and the instrumental is bouncy.
Honestly, the vocal layering on both songs is so seamless.
It’s also lovely to hear how well Changyeol and Sehum harmonize.
The animation for this music video is charming.
I live for when Chenyeol goes into his lower register. It’s so sensual.🥰
I want Sehum’s colourful sweater.
“Telephone” is the perfect head-bopping song.
Okay, that black sweater look on Sehun is a grand mood, and let’s not even talk about how fine he looks with his hair slicked back.
WHAT??? I was not expecting the featured artist once again. 10cm just blessed me with his high pitched voice.
It is such a sweet background vocal to Chanyeol and Sehun’s harmonies.
I enjoyed every minute of this song; therefore, it gets a 10/10.
Now let’s check out their album.
Album Review: The album is also titled1 Billion Views and has nine songs. Here is a preview –
1 Billion Views (Feat. MOON)
Say It (Feat. PENOMECO) – This also follows the same upbeat flow and singing style. “Say It” is a BOP, and I am already grooving. Since this is a compiled post, I don’t want to write much, so I will just end on the fact that I enjoyed this song.
Rodeo Station – I love the melody, and the background vocals are soothing. The beat also follows the same retro influence. The production on all four tracks I have heard so far is excellent, most notable with the vocal layering. It is so fascinating to me. “Rodeo Station” is another great track on this record.
Telephone (Feat. 10cm)
Jet Lag – Now, this has a slower tempo compared to the rest. I can’t stop ranting about the vocal quality of this album. “Jet Lag” might just be my favourite so far. The chorus is captivating. I appreciate the smooth and chill vibe.
Fly Away (Feat> Gaeko) – The start for this is quite enchanting. I love the rap-talking style on this track and vocals…WOW. Gaeko is blessing my ears. No song on this album has disappointed. It keeps getting better as expected from EXO members. All I need now is a light stick to fully jam out. THE PRODUCTION!!!… I feel like I’m actually flying.
Nothin’ – The instrumental for this one stands out a lot from the rest, but it still fits the album concept. Already, I LOVE IT. The guitar on this track goes off, and I am here for all that energy. I honestly don’t want to analyze these songs so much because I might write too much since they are all equally amazing. Chanyeol and Sehun deserve an A+++++++ for this album.
On Me – OH JUST FROM THE INTRO, I KNOW THIS IS ABOUT TO BE 🔥. This one is the hardcore rap track on a classic trap instrumental. I am in cloud nine right now, all I need is a speaker because it is party time 💃🏼. It’s not heavy EDM, but it just makes me want to turn up.
1 Billion Views – Instrumental
1 Billion Views by EXO-SC is an excellent album from start to finish, and I will be going back to it a lot. I do have my favourites, but I enjoyed every single song on here, so my rating is a solid 10/10.
“OHIO” by Crush –
Reaction to Official MV:
Oh, I wasn’t expecting an upbeat start. I thought this was going to be a slow song because I didn’t check out any of the teasers.
I love the beat, and I feel this is about to be a good one.
His voice is fantastic, as always.
That little dance Crush did, in the beginning, was so adorable.
So this is about him going all out on partying to forget his heartbreak?
The melody for this song is catchy and very bouncy. It makes me want to pull out some weird dance moves.
Fun fact, Tablo from Epik High wrote the lyrics for this track.
I love that little breakdown clapping section. The rhythm is so good.
The pianist is also going off in the background. I am enjoying the jazz influence we have going on with the instrumental.
Okay, Crush is going off vocally. He isn’t doing anything too crazy, but his flow and smooth vocal runs are such a vibe.
“OHIO” is, for sure, going on my playlist. It is such a groovy song, and I already want to sing along.
Plus, Crush’s crazy dancing in the video is a delightful visual feast. 😂😂😂
“OHIO” gets a 10/10 from me.
Review of B-side – “Let Me (Feat. Dean Morrison)”
Oh, I guess this is the softer track.
It seems to be entirely in English.
This song is so delicate, and I already love it.
I approve of the instrumental mix with the keyboard and shallow drum beats.
“Let Me” is a romantic track, and I am here for this kind of energy.
It reminds me so much of songs I would hear from the 90s American boy groups.
Wow, whoever is doing the backing vocals has a rich deep voice. Is that Dean Morrison, or is he just the producer? Kindly let me know in the comment section.
Crush’s voice on this track feels like butter melting into my ears.
“Let Me” really follows the classic 90s/early 2000s R&B style.
I LOVE IT. My rating is 10/10.
“AWay” by JEONG EUN JI –
Reaction to Official MV:
I’m sad.😥 There are no English captions on this video.
All the same, I am here for this summery vibe.
Her voice is so beautiful, and I love how the instrumental brings high energy into the song.
The chorus didn’t drop as I expected, but that makes things more interesting.
Plus, I think the melody is catchy and easy to sing along.
The cinematography for this music video is stunning. The colours pop with a soft glow effect.
I am enjoying the overall vibe, and I wish I could go on a road trip while jamming to this.
Jeong Eun Ji’s make-up is pretty. Her make-up artist went in.
Vocal wise, her high notes are effortless. I also hear some lovely whistle notes in the background.
Eun Ji is very talented and blessed with a powerful voice.
“AWay” gets a 10/10 from me.
Now let’s check the full album she dropped.
Album Review: This EP is titled Simple and has six songs. Here is a preview –
Simple is the best – I adore the soft vibe of this one. The piano is on it is brilliant. I could listen to just the instrumental on its own and still enjoy every second because it’s that fascinating. I love how the tempo switched up throughout the song but came together as a perfect mix. Jeong Eun Ji also sounds breathtaking on this track, and the overall production is excellent.
Whoo – This is way more chill compared to the previous tracks. I love Eun Ji’s vocal tone. It almost sounds like a neo-soul style to me. It’s like a breath of fresh air that hits you in at the right moments. I’m swaying from side to side while listening to this track because it’s that soothing with the shallow vocals and soft guitar instrumental. “Whoo” is my favourite song so far.
Stay – This is a full-on ballad with the classic piano entry and entrancing vocals. I think this might be my second favourite. It feels like a lullaby that could quickly put me to sleep, and I live for this kind of relaxing songs. I’m just going to stop typing and enjoy every second of this one.
Moisturising – Another soft track but with a guitar entry. The progression of this is intriguing. It’s not too upbeat but not very slow like “Stay”. The guitar and drums give it a more cheerful essence. I feel like it was too short, or maybe the 3 minutes and 25 seconds just went by too fast for me.
A Slow Child – Oh, this is about to be a whole mood just from the first few seconds. I love the deep rhythmic drums, and the way Eun Ji came in was elegant. This track makes me feel light, almost like I’m floating. Also, the inclusion of classical instruments took the song to a grand lev. “A Slow Child” is my third favourite song from this record.
Jeong Eun Ji truly impressed. The EP – Simple is sold, and it will be on repeat for a while. My rating is a definite 10/10.
There is no way I could miss reviewing LAY‘s album again. Although I couldn’t react to part one of LIT, I did listen to it, and it’s a solid 10/10 for me. Both parts of LIT have six songs that combine to form a full-length album with twelve tracks in total. I know all the titles for this record are in Chinese, so here are the track titles for part one: “Lit” – “Jade” – “Eagle” – “H20” – “Fly” and – “Soul”
Now let’s check out what this second part has to offer.
(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exacts thoughts while listening to each song.)
Here is the album on Spotify –
Changsha – Okay, I love how this started. I think the first instrument is a traditional flute, but don’t take my word on that. I truly appreciate this album for the fusion of traditional and modern elements. As expected, the beat came in hard, and LAY sounds fantastic. I am already dancing, which means “Changsha” is a vibe. In some verses, LAY seems to be rapping or is someone else featured on this track? I am intrigued by his vocal technique. He’s not really singing or fully rapping, but whatever artistic choice he made lead to this BOP. I absolutely love this song. The continuous flute melody for the instrumental is catchy, and it will be stuck in my head for a while. I think the overall production is solid, and this is a perfect way to start out this second part of the album.
Mama – The beat on his songs are so epic. You all need to get a speaker or headphones to fully appreciate the bass. I love the lyrics for “Mama”. He’s basically talking about the support and care from his mother, right? I love the line when LAY says – “If I fall, at least I tried.” This is honestly the key to life. You just have to try. If you fail, stand up, dust yourself and move on to the next agenda. Do not stay down because that’s when you’ve failed. I love this song, it’s upbeat but on a different vibe from the previous one. I personally feel it was too short, but that’s not a big deal when I have a loop button.
Boom – This I have already heard, and I honestly was not the biggest fan, but let’s see how my second listen goes. I love the beat, and this line – “to the right, to the left…” is really catchy. I think “Boom” is a casual dance song just like LAY intended it to be. The chorus actually makes you want to move. I certainly enjoyed it more this second time, and it’s a definite grower. I might not go back to play this particular song a lot, but on this album, it is a substantial entree.
Call My Name – Alright, we have arrived on the slow train of this record. Excellent start with the guitar instrumental. It made me feel relaxed and ready to soak in LAY’s vocals. Plus, he sounds so soft and soothing on this track. I noticed that they doubled his vocals in certain parts, it almost seems like an echo, and it gave me chills. The production is incredible. The chorus didn’t go where I was expecting, but it is perfect. I thought it was going to be slow all through, but he gave us a groovy vibe with the introduction of a smooth bassy beat. “Call My Name” is an ultimate BOP and a half🔥. LAY’s voice on this track is pure eargasm. The effortless vocal runs in the background… WOW!!! I AM IN LOVE.
Late Night – The intro gives off such a serene and trancelike vibe. I am enjoying these last few songs a lot. Their calm but swift energy is giving life. The fact that I get to hear more of LAY’s singing is also adding to my joy. I need to know who creates his beats. If he does it all by himself, then he’s a genius because the way they hit is LIT… yes🧐, pun intended. I couldn’t resist, sorry😂🤣😂. I love how the tempo goes up a note during the chorus and then comes back to the chill mood for the verses. The falsetto notes in the background are soothing. “Late Night” is another great song on this album and also one of my favourites.
Wish – The last song already? This was too fast. Still following the slow tempo with beautiful vocals. I enjoy how the slower songs start out with a guitar, which is an excellent differentiation from the regular piano intros. Okay, hold up, I just looked at my phone, and this song is only 2 minutes and 43 seconds long. That is way to short LAY. You can’t be making short length bops like this. This is unacceptable because I need more time. “Wish” is definitely the softest song on the album because there aren’t any heavy beats on it. We just have LAY’s voice and the guitar doing their best all through, and I LOVE IT. This is a perfect way to end the album.
I am genuinely impressed by all six songs. LAY did an excellent job with this record. I once again want to point out how much I appreciate the fusion of traditional and modern musical elements. Although I did notice that blend was more prominent in the first part of the album in comparison to this one. All the same, every song on the LIT album is playlist worthy to me. Therefore my rating for LIT: Part 2 is a bulletproof 10/10.
I posted on the blog’s Facebook page that I would be compiling a missed review post. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get this out earlier today due to schoolwork, but here it is. I also have a second part coming soon because I have a lot of groups and solo artists to go through.
(Please note – This is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to each song.)
“Candy” by Baekhyun – Reaction to Official MV:
Already this instrumental is giving straight BOP vibes.
Baekhyun’s voice is out of this world beautiful.
I am living for the instrumental, and I love how they slowed it down for the pre-chorus section.
Beautiful choreography and the chorus is so good.
I absolutely love the variations of beats in the background.
The deep drum beat that came in during the second verse was too perfect.🔥
The subtle runs that Baekhyun does at the end of each sentence are pure eargasm.
This is catchy and easy to groove to.
The slowed-down parts get me majorly in my feels.
The production is insane. From the vocal runs to the background vocals and even the high notes. Everything is incredible.
What else was I expecting?
Beakhyun is merely flexing his exceptional pipes on us, and I AM FEELING BLESSED.
Hence my rating for “Candy” is a bulletproof 10/10.
Now I know this is the title track for Baekhyun’s 2nd mini-album Delight, so I am going to check that out now.
This EP has seven tracks, and everyone was equally amazing.
I can’t pick a favourite song now because I want to replay the album later today when I’m fully awake. I need to appreciate all the tiny details before deciding.
All the same, Beakhyun’s voice is breathtaking, and Delight is a classic, lovely and well-produced R&B album. My rating for it is 10/10.
“FANTASIA” by Monsta X –Reaction to Official MV:
This is my first time actively listening to a song from Monsta X.
I only randomly heard “MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT” and “Wish on the same sky” on Spotify, and I LOVE both songs.
So why not check out their recent comeback?
Okay… I wasn’t expecting the beat to go hard that fast.
The first rapper is so good. I love the way he came in, and the instrumental switch up for that section was perfect for his rap style.
The visuals for the music video are outstanding.
I love the synthesized beat for the chorus section.
The boys look amazing in the black and gold outfit.
They have great dancers, and the vocalists are also pretty solid.
The beat drops for this song are very epic and intriguing.
After my first listen, I am 80/20 on this song. I like it, but I’m not deeply in love.
EDM influenced tracks are often just okay or major bops for me. Hence why I’m going to replay “FANTASIA” to see if it gets better for me.
After my second listen, I will rate this song as a 9/10.
I like it, and I think it’s a grower. After a few more listens, I might enjoy it more.
Alright, I know they released a mini-album titled FANTASIA X. I am going to check it out now.
This album has seven tracks, and they all have electronic elements. I’m new to Monsta X, so I wonder if this is their go-to sound.
I think I will enjoy this album more when I blast it on my headphones, but it’s too late for that now.
Currently, the songs that stood out to me are “IT AIN’T OVER” and “Stand up”
My rating for FANTASIA X is 8.5/10. I will listen to it again later in the day and post more favourites songs on the Facebook page.
“Daechwita” by Agust D –Reaction to Official MV:
I feel this is going to be a theory filled song/MV, so I’m just going to leave an explanation video here –
Now let’s get into it.
I have already mentioned way too many times how much I enjoy hearing traditional music elements in modern songs.
If he keeps this sound for the entire song, then he has my undivided attention.
Thankfully I have English captions since I’m fashionably late on this reaction.
I love the traditional town setting and costumes.
Okay, the beat definitely goes hard.
His flow is not even questionable. I might not be an avid BTS follower, but I know he’s talented.
I’m paying more attention to the lyrics.
Korean rappers have a different level of spice that makes me appreciate rap music.
I never used to enjoy hip-hop before discovering the K hip-hop scene. Their flow, energy and lyrics are exceptional and intriguing.
I wonder what “Daechwita” means. I will watch the explanation video once I finish this review.
Oooh, I love how the traditional elements dropped during the bridge, and his flow switched up entirely. This song is pure 🔥🔥🔥.
Yep, it’s official for me. “Daechwita” is a BOP and a half. I give it a complete 10/10.
I know this is the title track to his 2nd mixtape D-2, so I am checking it out now.
This album has ten songs, and every song hit hard for me in a different way.
Like Baekhyun’s case, I don’t want to pick favourites now because I need a better listen later in the day.
My rating for D-2 by Agust D is a bulletproof 10/10.
“Yours” by Raiden x Chanyeol ft. LEE HI & Changmo –Reaction to Official MV:
LEE HI came in smoothly with her soulful and sultry voice. She always puts me in my feels.
I love the chill instrumental.
I admire rappers that can also sing, and Chanyeol’s voice is blessed.
Excellent work with having Chanyeol and LEE HI go back and forth on one verse.
Their completely different tones and styles of singing makes things more interesting.
I LOVE when featured artists are incorporated throughout the song instead of only appearing in one section.
It doesn’t even have to be them singing or rapping the entire time, but at least some background vocals or continuous interaction between the leading artist and featured one sound way better to me.
Raiden is calling for my attention with that piano and guitar of his. I know I sound like a broken record already, but I love keyboards.😄
I love the beat drop for the chorus. It’s still chill but more bouncy.
The colours and graphics for the music video are perfect.
I love the vocal layering on this.
LEE HI’s vocal runs are soft but beautiful. The production on this song is really exceptional.
Oooh, nice ending with the synthesized/distorted instrumental.
Yep, “Yours” by Raiden x Chanyeol ft. LEE HI & Changmo gets a solid 10/10 from me. Another song for my playlist.
“Sometimes” by Baek Ji Woong(Prod. JungKey) – Reaction to Official MV:
This marks my second song from Baek Ji Woong.
I enjoy his calm and compelling vocal tone.
He’s a very talented ballad singer, and I honestly need to find time to check out his previous releases.
The slight raspiness of his voice is soothing to my ears. Plus, the vibe of this song is relaxing.
This song started out with a soft piano and then paced up a bit with the introduction of a guitar to the mix.
The couple in the music video is adorable.
Is this song about them reminiscing their time together? Doesn’t that mean they broke up?😥
I love the instrumental and vocal progression of this song.
Baek Ji Woong’s high note is smooth, and I love how his vocals floated out at the end.
CLASSIC BALLAD’S ARE SO BEAUTIFUL.
I checked out the English lyrics, and it is about reminiscing the precious moments of a previous relationship.
I really enjoyed listening to “Sometimes” by Baek Ji Woong, and it’s since it falls under one of my favourite genres, I couldn’t help but fall in love with this song.
My rating is a solid 10/10. I already added it to my playlist.
Although I had to stay up late, I enjoyed listening to all these artists. I discovered some quality R&B, Hip-hop and EDM albums. I also got a fantastic ballad track to soothe my soul, so I am pleased. I will be sleeping well tonight.
“Jade” is LAY’s pre-release single towards his upcoming 4th album. There is no music video for this track yet. However, I’m too excited to wait, so let’s check it out now. I can still react to the music video once it drops.
Zhang Yixing, known by the stage name LAY or Lay Zhang, is a Chinese singer-songwriter, dancer, music producer, and actor. He officially debuted in 2012 under SM Entertainment as a member of the Kpop group EXO. His career as a solo singer began in October 2016 with the release of his song – “What You Need?”. He then made his official debut with the EP – Lose Control on October 28th, 2016.
(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to this song.)
Reaction to Audio Track:
I knew we were getting some traditional instruments once I saw the track photo.
I love the instrumentalization of this. The way it starts out with the traditional sounds and then that heavy beat drops.
It is PERFECT.
It looks like this is all in English as I expected from Lay.
Oh, don’t mind me, it’s not entirely in English.😄
I assumed that this was going to be a sentimental song, but Lay is going off. This is a legit BOP!!!
I can’t wait to watch the music video because I’m sure the choreography will be superb.
I love how he’s says – “jade.” That section is LIT.🔥🔥🔥
I am adding this song to my playlist right now.
I am already dancing because “Jade” is a full groove.
There’s no way anyone can listen to the song and sit still.
Lay did not come to play, and I love how we can still hear the Chinese opera elements throughout the track.
I love when R&B/hip-hop artists include Chinese opera in their songs. It’s such an entrancing and soothing style of music.
Lay’s vocals on this track are smooth like Honey. See what I did there???😏 Pun intended.
I’m not okay.😂😂😂
I appreciate the 0.43 seconds instrumental-only section at the end.
This is my new jam, and I will be leaving it on replay for a long time.
As expected from Lay, he didn’t disappoint. Hence my rating for this new single “Jade” is a solid 10/10.

EXO released their new album titled OBSESSIONon the 27th of November. The title track is also called “Obsession”. I saw the teasers, and I love the dark concept. I know I am very late with this review, but a sis was so busy these past few weeks. All the same, I am so excited.
(This is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to this song.)
Reaction to Official MV/Title Track:
Right from the start, I am already into this sound.
Is it just me, or does this song give off a trap feel?
The beat drop at the beginning already testifies for how epic this song is about to be.
Baekhyun gives me life.
The visuals kind of remind me of “Monster”.
For some reason, Kai’s crop tops keep getting shorter and shorter with each comeback.😂😂😂
Okay, when Suho came in, I was shocked. Boy…who told you to look so beautiful and sound so amazing?
Oooohh, what is this – “I don’t think so.”
The beat for this track is insane. I LOVE.
It is official, “Obsession” is already a BOP and a half. EXO came hard with this one.
The visuals for this music video are exceptional.
Chanyeol’s raps are always on point. He stays killing all his parts.
My favourite section is definitely when they get to sing, “I don’t think so.”
The choreography looks good. I am ready to watch a live performance and dance practise.
Yesss to that groovy bridge and Chen just slew me with his beautiful high note. I am in space at this point. I LOVE THIS SONG.
Also, Sehun’s slow talk-rap was the perfect build-up into the bridge👏👏. The transition was flawless. He came in smooth and left us more space to appreciate the vocals.
So basically, they are battling another version of themselves. Okay.
EXO’s harmonies are to die for. They like to flex with their vocals a lot. My ears have been blessed.
Nah… HOLD UP, Chen, Baekhyun and Suho just disrespected me with vocals towards the end, but I am not complaining.
All members did great for this comeback. Everyone had their stand out moment, but I could not pinpoint it all because I was too busy grooving to the song.
Suho stood out a lot to me. That red suit with his red hair and then when they shot him in black/white… DAMN. Also, excuse me but ABS FOR DAYYYS…😂😂😊😊😍. I am in love with his look for this comeback.
I have to watch this music video a few more times to take everything in.
There is no argument here, “Obsession” is a BOP, and I am ready to play this song on repeat. I already added it to my playlist. Thank you, EXO.
This song is definitely a 10/10 for me.
I have to go now. I will be checking out the full album later on at my own personal time.
The chosen song for this week is “Electric Kiss” by EXO.EXO is a South Korean boy band signed to SM Entertainment. They made their official debut in 2012 with the single “Mama.” They are one of the first kpop groups I ever listened to. I remember trying to sing along to “Wolf” and “Growl.” I also use to try to dance along with them. All I can say about the dancing part is that it definitely did not turn out well😂😂.
“Electric Kiss” is from EXO’s first Japanese album Countdown. It was released on the 31st of January, 2018.
This song is such a BOP. I cannot believe I never heard about it until earlier this week. I was seriously missing out on one of the grooviest songs in history. It is so good. There is no way anyone can listen to “Electric Kiss” and just stay still. The music just makes you want to move. EXO sounds fantastic on this track, and the choreography is also outstanding. I am going to leave a video of their dance practice at the end of this post.
I hope you all enjoy listening to “Electric Kiss.”
It has officially been summer for a while now and just like I did during winter with My Winter Playlist, I have created a summer playlist. On a regular, my favourite genres of music are RnB, soul, neo-soul, hip-hop, but occasionally I do dabble into trap, country and rock. During summer, I practically listen to anything, so far as it is groovy and upbeat.
So here is my summer playlist created for you all to enjoy, and as always I added short previews for each song.

I absolutely adore Mamamoo, not just for their music but also for their quirky personalities. They are a fantastic group, and I always look forward to their comebacks. If you do not listen to Mamamoo already, you should because they are a vocal powerhouse that never disappoints on both upbeat and ballad tracks.
#. LAY – Bad
I already mentioned the EP – Honey by Lay in a previous post. If you have not read that post already, go check it out – Song Of The Week: LAY – HONEY. ‘Bad’ is my second favourite song from the EP, and I have been listening to it on repeat. So hopefully, you all enjoy it like I do.
#. WayV – Take Off
WayV was the group I wrote about in my most recent star showcase. If you have not read that post already, here is the link – Star Showcase: WayV. They are currently my favourite male pop group. “TakeOff” is a great upbeat song, and so I had to have it on this playlist.
#. I.O.I – Whatta Man
I discovered I.O.I’s version of “Whatta Man” while searching for the original by Salt ‘N’ Pepa. Usually, I am very skeptical about remakes, but this was done so well, and I like that they brought their own originality to the piece. I hope you all enjoy listening to this song and also check the original version by Salt ‘N’ Pepa if you have not heard to it before.
#. MOMOLAND – BAAM
So far, this is the only song from MOMOLAND that I have listened to. This is because I do not really enjoy overly cute concepts. But once in a while, I make an exception for amazing songs like “BAAM”. My favourite part of the song is definitely the rap section.
#. BTOB – Blowin’ Up
I LOVE BTOB. They are currently on the top of my list for Korean boy bands. Every single member brings something unique to the group. Their rappers are amazing, but my main man is Ilhoon. Also, this is another vocal powerhouse because all of the vocalists could be mains. Their voices are so beautiful. I groove a lot to “Blowin’ Up”, so it has to be on this playlist.
#. VaVa, Ty., Nina Wang – My New Swag
I am so glad that this song was featured as a soundtrack for Crazy Rich Asians. I would have been missing out on a rare gem if I did not watch that movie. It is a perfect case of the old and new coming together to form a fantastic blend. The entire song scream genius. Of course, I love VaVa and Ty.’s rap, but Nina Wang blessed my ears with the Chinese opera section, that for me is the best part of this song. Also, it has a great beat, so what else do I need in a song? Pure Perfection.
#. Ailee – Room Shaker
Ailee did not come to play with anyone on her recent album: butterFLY. “Room Shaker” is such a great party song. She is such a vocal queen, and I am always here for her. Currently, she is having issues promoting her album, but I sincerely hope that everything works out well for her because she deserves the best.
#. G.Soul – You
Honestly, Korean agencies need to manage and promote their solo artists better because people keep on missing out on such gems. I am okay with the fact that he left JYP Entertainment to join H1GHR MUSIC. Other similar artists like Crush, Dean, Sam Kim, Zion.T are out there, but he seemed so hidden (sorry I just had to rant a little). I am glad that I discovered him because he is a beautiful vocalist.
#. BANG YONGGUK – YAMAZAKI
No words can describe the epicness of this song. I am so sad that I cannot find it on Spotify but no worries, I will just continue listening to it on YouTube. Fair warning: the music video for this song is quite graphic, you will also get a notice before the video starts. With that said, let me just state the fact that BANG YONGGUK is AMAZING. The beat on this goes hard🔥🔥. Guys, please listen to this song in 8d, I promise that you will love it even more.
#. NCT 127 – Simon Says
Most people tend to feel that NCT 127’s music is too trippy, but I personally think that their sound is very futuristic. Once I hear a song from any NCT group, I can tell that it is them because of how distinct their music style is. Sometimes it takes me a few listens to really get into the groove of the song, but after then, it becomes a steady bop. I love “Simon Says”. This song never fails to energize me, and I find myself playing it on repeat for a long time.
#. Triple H – Feel
I was really into this group, and I am so sad about the messed-up situation that went down. But that will not stop me from enjoying their music. I love every single song that Triple H released, but for this playlist, I decided to stick with “Feel” becauseit never fails to hype me up.
#. SUNMI – Heroine
The first song I ever heard from Sunmi was “Full Moon”, and I have been in love with her music since then. I decided to add “Heroine”to this playlist because of how perfect it is for a summer road trip. It is such a perfect sing-along song.
#. ITZY – DALLA DALLA
For me,”DALLA DALLA” is the perfect balance between the cute Vs. the hardcore concept. I really love it and plus it promotes an essential message, which is to love yourself and that it is okay to be different. All the members of the group really shined throughout the song, and I am looking forward to checking out their comeback song “ICY”.
#. EXO – Ko Ko Bop
Summer is not officially summer without EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop”. I really love when Kpop songs add in some trap or EDM elements because it guarantees a sick beat. Anyways, EXO never disappoints, and this is just one of their long list of songs that are perfect for summer.
#. CHUNG HA – Gotta Go
Chung Ha was born to be a star. She just has something about her that draws in the viewer’s attention. “Gotta Go” is my favourite song from her. The chorus for this song is very addictive, so I always attempt to sing along.
#. KARD – RUMOR
K.A.R.D is the best group to play during summer. Almost all their songs have that standard summer groove vibe to it, and even their latest release “BOMB BOMB” is lit. I showcased it recently as a song of the week, check out that post here – Song Of The Week: K.A.R.D – BOMB BOMB.”RUMOUR”made this playlist because I wanted to go with a more laid back tune from them.
#. Gen Hoshino – Family Song
This is another great road trip song or a perfect tune to end a gathering with friends. I discovered this song from the Japanese drama: Overprotected Kohoko. The song speaks about wishing happiness and smiles to everyone and praying that such feelings last for a long time in their lives. Even though they might be feeling sad now, it is only a bridge to their coming joy. I hope you all enjoy listening to this song, and I wish that everyone reading this post will have a reason to smile for a long time.
#. Millic, Fanxy Child – Paradise
This is one of the grooviest songs I have heard in the longest time. I just cannot help but to sing along to the chorus and also attempt to mouth some of Penomeco’s part because his verse is straight FIRE. Millic did his thing with the production of this song. Also, the other members of Fanxy Child (Crush, Dean and Zico) brought their A-game. In conclusion, the entire song is TOO GOOD.
#. Jackson Wang – Papillon
Aite Aite Aite Aite Aite, You got me feeling like a, Feeling like a Papillon. Only one word can be used to describe this song – LIT🔥🔥. Jackson just has this deep voice that does wonders for my ears, and he blessed me with this song. So that is all I have to say, NEXT.
#. Bii – Be Your Light
AWWW BII. I already spoke about my love for Bii in my first ever star showcase on this blog. Here is the link to that if you want to check it out – Star Showcase: BII. I just love the progression of this song. It starts off very soft with just Bii singing, but then you get a full choir for the chorus. That perfect build-up creates a hopeful feeling. Bii’s vocals on “Be Your Light” is beautiful, he always gives me the best music. I might be doing a short review of his latest album, so keep an eye out for that post.
#. Jay Park, Cha Cha Malone – Feature
Every playlist to me must have at least one or two impressive RnB tracks for it be complete. And who else could provide that perfect song? “Feature”by Jay Park & Cha Cha Malone is such a smooth song, and both singers served vocals on this track. So I hope you guys enjoy it.
#. HA SUNG WOON – BLUE
While reviewing the drama Her Private Life, I mentioned that “Think of You” by Ha Sung Woon is one of my favourite OSTs. I also stated that although I did not know much about him, he is a great singer. So recently, while doing a little research on him, I discovered “BLUE.” It is a great song, so I just had to have it on this playlist.
#. DEAN – Bonnie & Clyde
This song is such a masterpiece. Dean always releases excellent music, and that is why the music video for “Bonnie & Clyde” deserves way more views than it has currently. He is a vocal king, so people need to stop taking naps on his music and fully get on the Dean train.
Now I know I listed hip-hop as one of my favourite genres, but honestly, I was not always into rap music. I just could never get into the grove of Western hip-hop. I only started listening to rap music after I discovered the Korean hip-hop scene. And then from there, I was able to find one or two American rap artists that actually suits my taste. This song “EUNG FREESTYLE” is on the top of my list for Korean hip-hop songs.
#. SOMI – BIRTHDAY
SOMI really did great on this song. For a debut song, it actually slays. I really love whenever she says “oops, you’re not invited, yea you’re not invited”. I also think the bridge towards the end of the song is lovely. Even though I do not really follow her, I am happy that she was finally able to debut. I hope you all enjoy listening to “BIRTHDAY” as much as I do.
#. DAY6 – I Wait
Day6 is definitely one of my top Korean bands, and “I Wait” is a very addictive song. I love how the song starts out with a very soft tone and then keeps building up towards the powerful chorus. That just made the entire track more appealing to hear. Also, Day6 has an impressive set of vocalists. I really feel that they are an underrated group and totally deserve more exposure. I hope that with time, more people will discover them because they make fantastic music.
#. HEIZE, Dean – Shut Up & Groove
Here is another addictive song. After hearing it for the first time, the chorus was stuck in my head for days. I found myself singing “shut up & groove” EVERYWHERE I WENT TO😂. For real, the song goes hard. Heize is a fantastic artist, and of course, Dean always slays me with his vocals. So yes, it has to be on my summer playlist.
#. BAEKHYUN – UN Village
Okay BAEKHYUN, I see you. This song just makes me do that grovy sway from left to right while nodding and snapping my fingers. Like for real, this song is legitly too good. The music video should have more views by now but who knows what drug YouTube is on again😒. Anyways I really love “UN Village”, it is a beautiful song, and the album: CITY LIGHTSgets an A+ from me. Excellent solo debut.
#. Taemin – Want
Are words even needed to describe the awesomeness that is LEE TAEMIN? He is a full, packaged artist. From his dancing to his voice and even his looks. He gets a solid 100% in all departments, JUST SAYING. “WANT” is another one of his great releases. Also, the video for this song is pure art, plus the choreography💕. Like DAMN, HE DID THAT.
#. BOBBY – HOLUP!
Another song that goes hard. Bobby is an amazing rapper, and he really did great on this song. “HOLUP!” is such a party song. I love that included the other IKON members in this track. You can hear their voices towards the end of the song.
#. Red Velvet – RBB (Really Bad Boy)
I might not be the biggest fangirl of Red Velvet, but I still love them. And I also know that a good number of people feel that their songs are not always the best, but I am not of their opinion. I really really love all the songs they have released so far including their lastest comeback song “Zimzalabim”. It is definitely not my favourite song from them, but it is still good. Anyways I chose “Really Bad Boy” for this playlist because I have been listening to it on repeat.
#. BLACKPINK – Don’t Know What To Do
This is the ultimate summer song. “Don’t Know What To Do” is actually my favourite song from their latest album: Kill This Love. I have to render some well-deserved praise to Rose and Jisoo because they both sound beautiful on this track. I also enjoy listening to “Kick It” and funny enough the title track “Kill This Love” is not my go-to on the album.
#. Simon Dominic, ONE, G2, BewhY – Who You?
I need ONE to release more music. I am glad that he decided to leave YG Entertainment and has plans to set up his own one-person agency. At least now, he can focus more on his music. I still love Jung Jae Won the actor, but I have been missing One the rapper for way too long. Anyways, Simon Dominic, G2 and BewhY also went in on this track, everyone brought their A-game. Try listening to this song with a speaker because the beat on the chorus section is legit🔥🔥. Also if you guys have not watched Show Me The Money, then go check it out because it is actually a cool show.
#. Eric Nam – Honestly
As always, Eric Nam brought his perfect vocals and blessed me with a great summer song. My best part of “Honestly”is the section right before the chorus, he just sounds beautiful. No words can describe what his voice does for me. I hope you all enjoy listening to this song.
#. Gallant, Tablo, Eric Nam – Cave Me In
Yesss, another song with Eric Nam. His voice on this is so smooth. In fact, the entire song is too groovy. Gallant did well when choosing artists to feature on this track. Also the genius rapper Tablo. His verse is so real on this song. The choice of words in all his songs are always so brilliant. It makes me feel like he is reciting a poem.
#. Lu Han – On Fire
Okay, we are heading over to China again. Random thought – I feel Luhan and Bii look alike in a way. Back to the main topic – Luhan brought the heat on this song, it is a complete BOP. I am glad that all the Chinese members that left EXO have been doing well for themselves. Luhan has been killing both the music and the acting game, and I wish him more success.
#. TVXQ – The Chance of Love
The OGs, TVXQ. They are just two, but they sound better and even dance better than most groups with a vast number of members. “The Chance of Love” is an excellent song from them. That “oooh oooh oooh” is so soothing to my ears and the rest of the song also showcases impressive vocals. So I just had to have it on my summer playlist.
#. Jun. K – THINK ABOUT YOU
Like I mentioned already, every playlist to me must have at least one or two impressive RnB tracks for it be complete. And here is my second top on the list after ‘Feature’ by Jay Park & Cha Cha Malone. Jun. K snatched my wig and threw it all the way to Mars with this song. Vocals, dance and visuals, everything was 100%. My favourite section of this song is the bridge, he really took it up to another level there. The music video for “THINK ABOUT YOU” definitely deserves more than 4.2 million views. People need to stop sleeping on such incredible artists.
#. Song Bingyang – U Make Me Strong
This is such a beautiful song from Song Bingyang. I discovered it while watching the Chinese Drama: Moonshine and Valentine, which I listed as one of my top 10 dramas for 2018. If you will like to see that post, here is the link – MY TOP 10 DRAMAS FOR 2018. “U Make Me Strong” is a great song with an excellent beat as well and it always gives me an uplifting feeling whenever I listen to it. So I decided to end my summer playlist with this song.
Of course, there are many other summer songs, but these listed songs were chosen according to my personal preference. Also, I am sorry about the length of this post. I had way too many songs in mind, and I just could not shorten it be less than this listed 40.
Feel free to leave me your own summer song suggestions in the comment section. Also If you were intrigued by the previews and would like to hear the full versions, here is a link to the YouTube playlist I created – YouTube Summer Playlist
The chosen song for this week is Honey By Lay. Zhang Yixing, known by the stage name Lay or Lay Zhang, is a Chinese singer-songwriter, dancer, music producer, and actor. He officially debuted in 2012 under SM Entertainment as a member of the Kpop group EXO. His career as a solo singer began formally in October 2016 with the release of his song – “What You Need?”. He then made his official solo debut with his first EP – Lose Control on October 28, 2016.
“Honey” is the title track from Lay’s third EP. The EP, which is also titled Honey, has a total of four songs, including a Chinese version of the title track “Honey.”
I had seen the teaser for the music video of “Honey” randomly while scrolling through YouTube, and I planned to check out the full MV once it dropped. But of course, me being me, I totally forgot. Thankfully a channel I subscribed to posted a reaction video, so I finally remembered to check it out. After listening to “Honey,” I was hooked and also found myself in awe of LAY’S BEAUTY😍😍
My favourite part of the song is whenever he says, honey. He says it so softly, but it hits hard. Also his dancing, like damn son. He did not come to play, as always. He is such a fantastic dancer. So I have been watching the music video on repeat because I cannot get enough of the song’s beat, visuals and dance.
I also really like the song “Bad” from the same EP, but “Honey” still remains the best for me. I hope you all enjoy listening to this groovy track.
So I finally decided to bring back my weekly music specials.
The chosen song for this week is Stars and Moon by Ivy Shao. The music and lyrics for this song were written by Victor Lau, and the singer is the Taiwanese actress Ivy Shao. “Stars and Moon” is an official soundtrack for the Chinese drama Sweet Combat. The show stars Lu Han (former EXO member) and Guan Xiaotong as leads (fun fact: the lead actors are actually a real couple).
From the very first time I heard this song being played in the drama, I was intrigued. “Stars and Moon” is a very emotional song. It speaks about hope and the zeal to never retreat. This was the emotion I got from the song even before searching up the English lyrics. Here is the English translation:
The star is scared that once she blinks, the moon will disappear and be gone
The moon holds her hand and promises to stay by her side
The star and the moon agree to always accompany each other
Illuminating the world together
Until the day that the moon suddenly goes back on his promise
The star hangs on the horizon. The moon is no longer there
She does not wish to cry and chooses not to fall
The star no longer yearns. She decides to illuminate the world alone
Shining in the night without the moon
On dark nights without you (I’ll keep on shining)
My favourite part of this song is definitely the chorus. I just love the message that no matter what you go through, you have to believe in yourself and keep on moving. Ivy always impresses when she sings. She might not have the most powerful voice, but she sure knows how to spark emotions from her audience.
I look forward to hearing more songs from her because she is astounding both as an actress and a singer.
That is my short write-up for this song. Till my next post, take care
“Tempo” was released by Korean pop group EXO, as part of their 2018 comeback album titled; Don’t Mess Up My Tempo. I am not really into EXO, so I only check out their title tracks, and I definitely have the specific songs I love from them. When I first heard this song, I did not take any interest in it, but I recently watched a reaction video for it and decided to give it a second listen. I guess the second time was the charm needed to allow me to appreciate the song more.
My favourite part of the song is the little Capella (Acapella) section they had towards the end of the track. I felt that their voices really shined throughout that section. It also made the song more groovy. So a thumbs up to EXO for blessing my ears.
