TREASURE – The First Step: Chapter Three – Kpop Album Review

On November 6th, TREASURE returned with their 3rd Single Album – THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER THREE, which includes the title track “MMM” and the B-side, “ORANGE”

(Please note – this is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to each song.)

Reaction to Official MV/Title Track:

  • Okurr!!! The way they came in with “Mmm, Mmm, Mmm. Let me treasure you, treasure, treasure you.” is doing a lot for me.
  • I have a feeling that this song is going to be a BOP and a half.
  • Honestly, the beat is sick.
  • Haruto!!! Every single song!!! If you’ve read my previous reviews for TREASURE, you will know that he has been on my neck since day one.
  • The boy doesn’t have any chill, and I’m living for his energy, voice and presence.
  • All the other members are equally astounding, but Haruto does something extra for me. So excuse me as I continue to fangirl, ahhh!!!πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°.
  • The rappers are insanely on point. I love how Hyunsuk came in after Haruto. His flow was smooth and very rhythmic.
  • The vocalists also blend into the mix very well.
  • I’m still not familiar with everyone’s name, but they keep impressing with each new song.
  • “MMM” is hands down my favourite song from TREASURE.
  • The choreography is tight and fits well with the heavy electronic sound.
  • Ooo, the bridge is πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯.
  • I LOVE THIS SONG, and it’s been added to my playlist already.
  • “MMM” gets a solid 10/10 from me.

Reaction to B-side:

  • It looks like this song is on the softer side.
  • So there will be more space for vocal appreciation.
  • I’m sad that I can’t recognize all the members yet, but I’m working on it.
  • For some reason, this song’s instrumental sounds very 2000 R&B to me and I love it.
  • The melody for “ORANGE” is lovely.
  • The vocalists sound beautiful, + I’m enjoying their harmonies and soft vocal runs.
  • I also like how they layered the vocals under the rap sections.
  • Once again, I have to mention how much I adore the rappers in this group. Each one has a distinct flow and tone that adds a nice texture to TREASURE’s songs.
  • “ORANGE” is a song that I see myself coming back to a lot. Therefore, It gets 10/10 from me.

“It just is” by eaJ x Seori (Feat. Keshi’s Strat)

Reaction to Official MV:

  • I’m super excited about this collaboration. I’m new to Seori, I discovered Keshi through Jae, and I love his music + you all should know that Jae is from my favourite band ever, DAY6.
  • Alright, just from the intro, I can tell that I’m going to enjoy this song.
  • “It just is” has such a chill vibe + Keshi is serving excellence on that guitar.
  • Seori has a beautiful voice, and this animated music video is charming.
  • Wow, the background vocals/layering for Seori’s section is captivating.
  • This beat, this melody…PURE BLISS!!!
  • Also, Jae’s voice sounds way shallow than usual, and I love the sultry feeling he’s giving off.
  • It’s official, I AM IN LOVE with “It just is”
  • The production on the track is tight and perfect. I can’t just listen to this song once; there has to be a replay before giving my rating.
  • No more needs to be said, “It just is” by eaJ x Seori (Feat. Keshi’s Strat) gets a solid 10/10 from me.
  • Now all I need is for them to put this song on Spotify.

IN-OUT by MOONBIN & SANHA(ASTRO)

Reaction to Title Track – Bad Idea:

  • This is my second time checking out something from ASTRO, so I’m kind of excited.
  • I love the guitar riff intro; it’s catchy.
  • Right off the bat, the shallow drumbeats are giving me life.
  • The visuals for this music video are absolutely stunning.
  • The vocals!!! Yessss!!! serve it like it’s hot, boys.
  • The black outfits and Moonbin in that suit is perfection + the choreography is smooth.
  • I honestly wasn’t expecting to love this song this much. It’s such a cool BOP.
  • The lighting and overall cinematography for the MV are incredible.
  • Moonbin’s voice on this song is pure eargasm. Can he sing me to bed every day?
  • Now I am even more pumped for the album.

Album Review: IN-OUT is MOONBIN & SANHA‘s unit debut EP, and it has 5 songs. Here is the highlight medley –

  1. Eyez On U – Odd but exciting intro. Of course, their voices came in beautifully. The progression on this track is quite unpredictable. I love that it keeps giving me surprises at every corner. WOW!!! Lovely falsetto notes + well-placed backing vocals. I love this song.
  2. Bad Idea – This here is my jam. I’m just going to groove.πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌ
  3. Alone – Ooo, this is about to be a BOP. The intro beat says it all and, once again, the vocals!!! I am living for the production quality and calm vibe of this song. Plus, the piano on this track is superb. “Alone” is my second favourite after “Bad Idea”
  4. All I Wanna Do – I love the continuous finger snaps. At this point, I sound like a broken record, but there is something about their harmonization that melts me. Wait, the chorus on this song should be made illegal. I wasn’t expecting a slow body roll section, but I LOVE IT. At this point, I’m adding the entire album to my playlist.
  5. Dream Catcher – A slow song to close things, and I don’t mind. I want to stop ranting about vocals, but once again, the harmonies!!!😳πŸ₯°. What did I do to deserve such beauty this night? Okay, enough of me being extra lol, but honestly, this song is lovely. Moonbin and Sanha are serving pure bliss on this track.

IN-OUT by MOONBIN & SANHA(ASTRO) is the perfect album to play on a chill day or whenever you need some relaxing R&B goodness. I love every single song on this EP. Therefore it gets a solid 10/10 from me.

THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER TWO by TREASURE

Reaction to Title Track – I LOVE YOU:

  • I enjoyed the songs from Chapter One, so I have high hopes for TREASURE this time around.
  • The intro is beautiful, and I love the boyish vibe of this song.
  • Wow, the video graphic during the chorus is insane.
  • Whoever came up with the idea of adding that into the MV is brilliant.
  • The chorus is groovy, and the rap sections that came after were smooth.
  • HARUTO!!!🀩🀩🀩 EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! This boy keeps coming for my neck.
  • I am not that invested in TREASURE yet, but Haruto is officially my bias because his flow and voice get me in my feels.
  • Their rappers are very impressive, and I’m sure they will get even better with time.
  • I love the little choral section to close off. It’s quite catchy.
  • Okay, TREASURE. I see you, and I love this energy.
  • I can see myself coming to “I LOVE YOU” once in a while, so it gets a 9/10 from me.

Reaction to B-Side – B.L.T (BLING LIKE THIS):

  • This also had their classic boyish charm.
  • I love the melody for the pre-chorus.
  • Compared to “I LOVE YOU”, this doesn’t have such a massive chorus drop, and I appreciate the variation.
  • Even in this song, Haruto tried to come for my neckπŸ˜‚.
  • The melody for the pre-chorus is absolutely lovely, and the vocalists are killing that section.
  • Overall, “B.L.T (BLING LIKE THIS)” isn’t exactly my vibe, so I’ll have to give it a 7.5/10.

“fine!” by punchnello (Feat. Kid Milli)

Reaction to Official MV:

  • The soft drumbeats that started this song are super catchy.
  • Punchnello came in so smooth + the follow-up beat is such a chill groove.
  • The music video is slightly weird, but I love it.
  • I’m enjoying myself . “fine!” is right up my alley.
  • The entire song feels good, and the rap flows are blessed.
  • I’m so glad I checked this out because I would have missed out on a good playlist addition.
  • This song was made for me. Thank you, punchnelloπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.
  • “fine!” by punchnello (Feat. Kid Milli) gets 10/10 from me.

Alright, and that’s a wrap. Have a goodnight, everyone.πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

TREASURE – BOY: Kpop Music Review

First of all, it’s been a while since I saw a group with this many members. I have gotten used to the seven/eight-member groups. That aside, let’s get into TREASURE’s debut single album – THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE. This digital single includes the title track “BOY” and a B-side – “COME TO ME”

TREASURE, which was previously called TREASURE 13, is a boy group that got formed through the survival program – YG TREASURE Box. This group has twelve members, which include Yedam, Junghwan, Jeongwoo, Haruto, Doyoung, Asahi, Jaehyuk, Mashiho, Junkyu, Yoshinori, Jihoon and Hyunsuk, the leader. There are a lot of Japanese members in this group, wooh!!!

(Please note – This is a real-time review, meaning I am typing down my exact thoughts while listening to each song.)

Reaction to Official MV/Title Track:

  • Oooo, sweet vocal entry. I like.
  • The synthesized beat is giving me life. I might enjoy this song more than there pre-debut release, which I also reviewed.
  • I currently can’t recognize any member aside from Yedam, but they all have beautiful voices.
  • I am definitely in love with the first rapper’s voice. I think that is Haruto? Correct me if I’m wrong.
  • When I was gathering their teaser photos, Haruto stood out to me, so he might turn out to be my bias, who knows???😊
  • The music video screams a high budget. The visuals are perfect for the song.
  • The boys are doing a great job in the dancing department.
  • “BOY” is undoubtedly the needed upgrade from “Going Crazy” That song didn’t do much for me, but with this, I am vibing.
  • I mentioned before how repetitive EDM songs have become in the kpop arena, but I also stated that I would still groove to them if a group does theirs tastefully.
  • The chorus here is more of a trap house sound, and I am enjoying it.
  • This song is an exquisite balance of their youthful charm and mature side. I appreciate this because I wouldn’t sit through a full-on cutesy song.
  • Their rappers are astounding, and their vocalists are also powerful. TREASURE has the potential to get far in the industry if YG Entertainment gives them the right promotion.
  • Whoever produced this song did a great job with the instrumental. It never stays the same. The variations for each section are excellent.
  • The ending reminds me so much of IKON – “Shh Treasure. Oh, oh oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.”
  • This song gets a 9/10 from me. It’s playlist worthy.

Reaction to B-side:

  • Okay, this is giving me tropical summer vibes.
  • I love the bouncy instrumental. It makes me want to dance. πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌ
  • I am willing to accept this level of adorable because it just a feel-good track.
  • TREASURE is going to be big. I see the talent and potential flowing from each member.
  • The vocalists are pulling on the stops on this song, and I love everyone’s vocal colour. So beautiful
  • “COME TO ME” has a lovely melody, and I will be replaying this song a lot.
  • Is Haruto singing as well? I love his low tone.
  • Yoshi’s flow is very catchy. I also noticed him in “BOY”
  • I don’t why this is giving me slight WINNER vibes, or maybe I’m just comparing due to them being from the same company.
  • All the same, I LOVE THIS SONG.
  • It gets a solid 10/10 from me.

BANG YE DAM – WAYO: Song Of The Week

My chosen song for this week is “WAYO” by TREASURE’s BANG YE DAM. img_8632Bang Ye-dam is a South Korean singer and member of the soon to be debuted boy group – TREASURE. The group is signed to YG Entertainment. Bang Ye-dam was born on May 7th, 2002, which makes him 18 this year. He gained popularity after appearing on the second season of K-pop Star in 2012. After finishing as the runner-up, he joined YG Entertainment. This digital single – “WAYO” marks his solo debut, and TREASURE will be debuting in July.

I initially wanted to write a review for this song, but since I didn’t have enough time, I had to save it for my future song of the week. I love how the song starts out with a guitar that ushers Ye-dam’s soft vocals into the mix. The way he sings “wayo, wayo, wayo” is so catchy and soothing. That part completely sold this song for me. Overall the progression of this song is relaxing and truly showcases Ban Ye-dam’s beautiful voice. I remember watching him on K-pop Star, and he was way younger then. I’m glad that he was able to train and maintain his voice. I can’t wait to hear more from him.

With concerns to his group – TREASURE, I have only heard “Going Crazy”, and it wasn’t exactly my style. But I will still keep an eye out for their official debut.

I hope you enjoy listening to “WAYO” by BANG YE DAM. Continue to have a lovely week, everyone.πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•
